TRUESDELL, STEVE, 55, of Saint Louis, passed away Saturday, June 24, from irreparable damage by a sudden stroke. He was surrounded by his family.
Steve was an accomplished artist and a Saint Louis institution. His commercial photography represented some of the world’s largest brands, but his heart resided in his prolific anthology of local culture. His editorial photos could be found in local, regional and national publications for over twenty years–his ever-present smile at events around the city from concerts to parades, protests to Pride Fests. Through his camera Steve was a poet, activist and raconteur. To his friends and family he was a joy and an encouragement. He touched the lives of so many, captured the stories of so many more and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Steve was born in St. Louis to Jack and Joanna Truesdell and was a graduate of Webster Groves High School, the Colorado Institute of Art and later Lindenwood University. He is survived by his wife, Krystal Phillips; his mother; sister Deb Truesdell Magee and her husband, David; brother Jeff Truesdell and his husband, Nelson; sister Kim Truesdell Muehlemann and her husband, Doug; daughter Megan Eileen Hager Truesdell; son Tony Riley and his wife, Eliza; daughter Alyson Shead and her husband, Matt; daughter Hannah Wheeler and her husband, Shawn; nephews Tom Magee and Ryan Muehlemann; nieces Jody Brent and Maddie Muehlemann; great-nephews Sam, Louie, Jack and Charlie, and great-niece Allie; grandchildren Drake, James, Michael, Leonardo, Jane, Harrison and another grandson due in September.
A memorial will be held on Saturday, July 8, from 4-7pm at Kutis Funeral Home, 10151 Gravois Road, St. Louis, MO 63123.
In lieu of flowers, please honor Steve with contributions to Planned Parenthood (https://secure.ppaction.org/site/Donation), or Stray Rescue of St. Louis (https://www.strayrescue.org/donate).
