In Loving Memory of Ioannis (Giannis) Konstantinos Polimeropoulos

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ioannis (Giannis) Konstantinos Polimeropoulos, a beloved member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. Gianni peacefully departed this world on December 23, 2023 at home with his family by his side.

Born on April 11, 1934, in the village of Pournari, Greece, Gianni was the son of the late Konstantinos and Konstantia Polimeropoulos. He was a man of faith and determination. Gianni migrated to the United States on September 14, 1974, with the unselfish hopes of creating a better life for his children and generations to come.

Beyond his involvement in the church, Gianni was a loving husband, father, and friend. He loved his family above all else and always exemplified the principles of honor and integrity in everything he did. His warm smile, kind words, and gentle nature brought a sense of comfort and happiness to those around him.

He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Dionisia, for almost sixty-two years, and together they built a life of wonderful memories. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Konstantinos (Dino), and George.

Gianni was a waiter at the Chase Park Plaza Tenderloin Room for over 25 years. He took a lot of pride in his work and his other passion – gardening.  Year after year he he would have an amazing garden full of fruits and vegetables to share with everyone around him.

A loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, Gianni is survived by his wife Dionisia, his sons Dino (Laura) and George (Mary), his brother Dimitrios (Koula), his sisters Despina (late Dimitrios), Gioula (Panagioti), grandchildren Lauren, Nicholas, Johnathan, Bessie, and Andrew, and several great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews, and preceded by his late sister Xanthi (late Vasilios) and late brother Athanasios.

His loss will be deeply felt by all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Trisagion service will be held on December 27, 2023, at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Des Peres at 12:00 PM Noon where friends and family can gather to pay their respects and honor his life. A small gathering with refreshments will follow in the Philoptochos room directly after.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Giannis’ memory.
