Randomly found Betty’s obituary . I worked with here down at tip top cleaners on Market street. She was a firecracker could work circles around us younger clerks . May she rest in peace
Thank you for this memory, Kathryn. She was always a hard worker. 🙂
My dearest Aunt Betty, I will hold you in my heart forever. All the time we spent together, the trips we’ve taken and the fun we had will stay with me until we’re together again. You stepped in when my mom died and told me so many stories about our family. You were always happy to see all of us and were ready to go to any destination, no matter the time or place. Our trips, especially our trip to Graceland, will always make me smile. You, always made me smile and I will miss you forever. You brought joy to me and my whole family. You watched me grow up and you watched and enjoyed watching me become a mom and a grandma. You loved my children and my grandchildren like your own and they are better people simply because you were a part of they’re lives. Hug my mom, dad and grandma for me. ❤️
Hold on to your memories, and let them guide you during this time of sadness.
This woman was so important in my life. She is dearly loved. She made the Best Christmas Cookies Ever, and her unique sour potato salad was great! I’ll never hand crank ice cream without thinking of Aunt Betty. All of her family stories are precious to me. Rest in peace now, you’ve earned it. <3
Aunt Betty, thank you for being such a wonderful part of our lives. Memories of you making chocolates for the holidays to sewing with the kids will be such fond memories. Thank you for those! You will be truly missed. Much love ❤️
Since I moved away so young I didn’t know my grandma very well although from all the stories I have been reading it seems we are quite similar. I guess that’s where I get my down for anything attitude. My friends know me as someone who will just get up and go, doesn’t matter when or where we’re going. I’ll carry on that tradition going forward. I do remember always going to lunch and 7-11 while visiting her and making candy and fudge for the holidays. It seems she touched so many people’s lives and will continue to with their memories
Betty Jean Nelson was born July 30,1931. She was always a strong, stubborn, independent, hard worker who ALWAYS put Others first These are DEFINITELY Generational. My children (now grown) and I are EXACTLY like that! She was Always ready to go. It didn’t matter where or what she was pretty much up for anything as are my daughter & I and my son until MS and such. She LOVED to shop! Another generational thing that she, my and I All share. Also, Very Well known for homemade hand crank ice cream, homemade egg nog, LOTS of homemade cookies, candy, & fudge. Traditions I happily & proudly passed on to my kids. Wagoner family, I even know how to make her one of a kind sour potato salad & slaw so it will continue to makes it’s appearance at family picnics. Mom/ Betty touched & impacted the lives all who knew her. She IS MUCH LOVED And will be GREATLY MISSED by MANY!
Dearest Great Aunt Betty. Thank you for being you. Growing up, I only saw you periodically, but you were always more than kind.
Over time, I began to see you more. We formed a bond when you were staying with my grandma in the 90’s. Then, you continued to show up here and there, during holidays or other family functions. Always helping in the kitchen or chatting. When my grandma passed away, you were the closest thing I had to a grandparent.
You continued to fill that gap for over 20 years. So long in fact that you became a Great Great Aunt to my kids! And as expected, you continued to show up. Traveling all the way to Madison WI with my mom (and Ava or Boo). You enjoyed going to the Madison Farmers Market, spending time in the yard and just visiting.
You were a fixture in the lives of many for 92 years. We love you, Aunt Betty. You will be sorely missed, but also celebrated and remembered. May you rest in peace.
Betty was a very special and generous lady who will be very much missed.
Betty was a loving mother and worked very hard to raise her children. She opened her door to me as a child, I’m thankful that I was able to see what a real family lived like and taste the delicious cookies and treats she made at Christmas! Betty will be greatly missed!
