Kaul

In Loving Memory

Kaul, Norbert A.

Norbert (Norb) Alfred Kaul departed this earthly life into the eternal love of God, on Monday, February 24, 2025. In his youth, Norb spent his days during WW2 in Poland/Germany, winning awards in athletics as a runner. In 1952, he and his family (parents Alfred and Rosalie, brother Josef) immigrated to the USA, settling in St. Louis. The family was part of Saints Peter and Paul Parish in Soulard. It was there that he married his first wife, the late Diannia Lee Ehret. He was a graduate of Hadley Technical High School.

After this marriage ended, Norbert enlisted in the US Army, serving in the 5th Infantry (The Red Diamonds-Mechanized) Division. During this time he was stationed in Colorado. It was there in Colorado he met and then married his second wife the late Judith Ann Yerrington. They were married for almost 45 years.

Norbert was a man of wisdom, of depth, of deep Christian faith, easy-going, a helper and mentor of others. In his adult life he served as a Soccer Coach and Referee at the HS level. He also served as a State USSF Referee. Norbert helped to start the Fenton Old Timers League, helper/volunteer at the STL Soccer Park. He loved attending sporting events, viewing them on TV, especially the Bundesliga Soccer matches.

Norbert served as a lay director at Assumption-Mattese Parish Church from 1975-1977. He later became a member of Concord Trinity United Methodist Church in South County. During his working days, Norbert was a tool and die maker by trade, working many years at Guth Lighting. In the 1970s, Norbert served as President of the International Association Machinists and Aerospace Workers, also serving as President of IBEW Local #1.

He loved to travel, especially in his RV. In his golden years, Norbert developed a love of choral singing as a Baritone. He was a member of the Concord Trinity UMC Choir, the STL Twilight Singers, and the STL

Liederkranz Society. He also participated in the German Cultural Society, and the STL Kickers Soccer Club. And with all of these accomplishments, the most important for him was being a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and Uncle.

Norbert leaves behind his children, Rev. Norlita Kaul (PCUSA Presbyterian), Mrs. Michelle (Steve) Krasnesky, and Mr. Randy (Jacqui) Kaul. His grandchildren, Natalie Hilterbrand (Charlotte Kawa), Nolan Hilterbrand (Anna Dodson), John Krasnesky, Rev. Adam Kaul (UMC-MO Conference), Kristina Kaul. His great-grandchildren are Ambrose, Oliver and Maxwell.

Norbert also leaves extended family, brother Josef (Soledad) Kaul, and many nieces and nephews. He was dearly loved he will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. Auf wiedersehen Norbert (until we see you again).

  1. It is with sadness to hear of Norbert passing away. What a wonderful and loving person Norbert was. I have many fond memories of receiving Norbert into Concord Trinity and all his talents he shared with our congregation. Norb was always ready to help with no questions ask. Prayers to you all as you grieve and the coming months as you remember and share memories of Norb with one another.
