Bartholomew, Ruth H

Bartholomew, Ruth H., Beloved mother of six, grandmother of 11, and great-grandmother of six, Ruth H.  Bartholomew passed away peacefully on January 23, 2018.

A musician with a zeal for  learning and helping others, she earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin and a Bachelor’s of Science in Music Therapy from the University of Miami-Coral Gables, and a Master’s of Science in Psychology from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

She was a licensed music therapist for senior care facilities in her hometown of St. Louis and Miami.  Upon retiring, she  volunteered with OASIS as a reading tutor for local school  children and as a music teacher at Holy Tots Preschool at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.  She served as organist and pianist for several Lutheran churches in St. Louis and Miami, most recently with Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in south St. Louis County.

She was a generous supporter of her church communities as well as numerous other charitable organizations throughout her lifetime. She was an enthusiastic sports fan, but her lifelong passions were her St. Louis Cardinals, as well as the University of Wisconsin Badgers.

She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and  survived by her children, Bonnie Hampton (Larry), David (Sally), Eric (Sandie), Scott (Betsy), Karen, Mary Bryant (Edward); her grandchildren Laura Gedge (Chris), Michael (Rhea), Kristen, Kyle (Jacquelyn), William, Taylor Anne, Kendall, Jacob, Brenna,  Caleb, Charis; and her great-grandchildren Matthew, Mathew, Nenagh, Olivia, Anthony, and Ian.

Services: Funeral at Kutis Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois, on Monday, January 29 at 12 Noon. Interment J.B. National  Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Ruth by making a contribution to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association. Visitation Sunday, 3-8:00 p.m.
