Karen M. Buchheit was born on September 2, 1951 in New Orleans, LA to her Birth Mother, Wadine Gautreaux. She was raised by her grandparents Calvin and Lelia (née Ortego) Firmin, and entered into rest on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at the age of 73.
Karen is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Alan “Al” Buchheit; her sons, Michael (Thomas Bean) Buchheit and Jason (Brandy Anderson) Buchheit; her sisters, Christine (the late Herman) Fenger and Lori (Mark) Boudreaux; dear cousin who was always like a sister, Evelyn Simon; siblings-in-law, Peggy Gautreaux, Patsy (Jim Harsh) Torian, Steve (Lynn Frank) Buchheit, Karen (Glen) Medeiros, and Ron (Lynn) Buchheit; and many cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends who were all very dear to her. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her mother; and her brothers, David Gautreaux, Dwain Gautreaux, and Neal Gautreaux.
Karen enjoyed the casino, traveling, and collecting jewelry and antiques. Most of all, she loved spending time with family. She was a devoted dog lover of Maiya, Buster, and Bandit.
SERVICES: A VISITATION will be held on Monday, May 19 from 9 am until time of FUNERAL SERVICE at 10 am at Kutis South County Chapel 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd. Burial at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Memorials in her honor appreciated to the Humane Society humaneworld.org.

I am very sorry to hear of the passing of Karen. She was kind to me and I know how much she meant to those that loved her. Thinking of you Michael and your whole family with sympathy and care during this difficult time.

Karen was a lovely woman. Met her at Incarnate word hospital inearly 1970’s. My deepest condolences to her family. She was always friendly, kind and funny. I am a cousin to Buchheit family on Rellergert side. 🕊️
