On Tuesday, July 26th, 2022, Michael Bernard Buss (68), was summoned home. Michael was born April 20, 1954 in St. Louis, Missouri to loving parents, the late Paul and Lucille (Tringl) Buss. Michael is survived by his wife Susan, his children, his grandchildren, his brothers, and his sisters. He was a loving son, a brother, a husband, a father, a grandfather, an uncle, a friend, and shipmate to many.
Michael retired from the US Navy and then the US Postal service. He dedicated his life to serving others and instilled pride in every aspect of his character. He loved his family and enjoyed every precious moment. He enjoyed the outdoors and made sure to share that enjoyment with anyone willing to join him. He was a teacher, a mentor, and most of all someone to depend upon whenever called.
Fair winds and following seas, may he forever feel upon his cheek, the salty sea breeze. His spirit will live on in many a heart, his words captured, and never shall depart. May all his loved ones have the comfort in knowing, to heaven is where he is going. For all they have to do is look above and they will be reminded of his love.
You have stood the watch while some of us slept. You have stood the watch while some of us were born. You have stood the watch so we could feel safe each and every night. Today we are here to say, Dad, the watch stands relieved, we now have the watch.
Services are scheduled to begin at 11:30 am on Friday, August 12th, 2022 at Kutis Funeral home, 5255 Lemay Ferry rd. St. Louis, Mo with procession to Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. A celebration of his life will occur immediately following at a location to be announced by the family.

I am so sorry to hear this news. Mike was a big part of my decision to join the military, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without that push. Hugs to all of the family!

Such a great brother in law. Last thing he said to us, just the weekend before, was to come on down and go four wheeling on my 18 acres. I’m sure he’s still up there, looking out for his family. Always in our hearts. Love you guys!

My Condolences, rest in knowing that Mike will be missed. I quest the rest of us old soldiers will have to stand watch. McArthur stated ” old soldiers never die they just fade away”. My take on that is that we shall forever be surrounded by his humbled spirit

In 2 Corinthians 5:8 the Apostile Paul assures those of us who put our trust in Christ that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
Mike has ended his journey and is now in his intended home. Mike has left behind a legacy of family and friends that will be felt for generations to come.

So very sorry for this heavy loss. In my mind I can still see Mike in that electric chair he made for Halloween when we all went camping at Big Creek. He was so proud of that and smiled like a kid at Christmas. That’s the way I will remember him.
