Johanna Fischer, 92 passed away of natural causes; wife of the late Heinrich Fischer; mother of the late Ludwig Fischer and Elisabeth (Lisa) Fischer (Larry Mennemeyer); grandmother of Kristel Bashwiner (Robert “Bob”) and Lydia Lockhart; great grandmother of Andrew (Drew), Aubrey Bashwiner and Juliette Campise.
Johanna was born in the former Yugoslavia and was a survivor of the Danube Swabians internment and labor camps. She immigrated with Heinrich, Ludwig and Lisa in 1959 to the United States to St. Louis. She worked as a seamstress in a factory and predominantly worked as a housewife.
Graveside service will be private immediate family only due to current restrictions.
Johanna was a very sweet neighbor, who always smiled and waved to all of us. She will be greatly missed.
