Graves

In Loving Memory

Graves, David James

Graves, David James

Saturday August 15, 2020. Beloved husband of Rebecca Graves (née Blankenship). Cherished son of James and Arlene Graves. Beloved brother to Rhonda (Thomas) Acton, uncle to Angela Hipp and Melissa Acton. Much loved son-in-law, brother-in-law and uncle to the Blankenship family. Cherished uncle, cousin, and friend to many.

David was an artist through and through. He loved to draw, enjoyed photography (aka “taking artsy pictures”), made videos from the moment he had a camera to do so, and most of all, he was a writer. He had so many worlds inside him that he lived to share with others, and he was always eager to draw his friends and family into his passion projects, whether it was filming a movie in the woods on the hottest day of the summer, or building a full size TARDIS in a metal shed on the hottest days of many summers. He never let anything stop him from attempting to realize his dreams. His enthusiasm and passion inspired everyone he knew, and through that inspiration, he will live on in our hearts. May the spell never be broken.

  1. I first met David around 6 years ago online while we were both working with musician, Michale Graves. He was editing videos and I was making CD covers and we hit it off right away, becoming fast friends as I think most who met him did.

He always had something to share; a new idea for a novel, a new Lego set he was working on, or some new movie he was excited about, and we’d chat for days about it. I already miss those days terribly and will forever remember all the good times and our ridiculous debates about new Star Wars movies.

Thanks for being such a great friend and thanks for all the inspiration. Though you’re no longer in this world, I know you’re still out there somewhere and that we’ll reconnect in another life.

You were one of a kind and I loved you for that and always will, David, and your family and friends are in my heart.

  3. I met Dave in 2016 at PAX South. It was the first time I was meeting many of my online friends in person. I was nervous and scared, but then I met Dave and Becky; they were so welcoming and kind, they made me feel like I belonged, and wasn’t some werid interloper. Dave made me feel like I belonged immediately. I’m so sorry I never told you how much that meant to me. Your kindness welcomed me into my family, our family. I’ll never forget you, Dave. I miss you.

  7. I may have only had the opportunity to know David for a little over a year. But he definitely made a lasting impression not only in my heart but in my soul. He was such a genuinely incredible human that I will dearly miss.
