My sweet friend since KG at Woerner School and Cleveland High School. We were in a close group of longtime friends for 88 years. I have so many wonderful memories of the good times: Girl Scouts, School Picnics, Friday night movies, High School Football games, Latin Club, Sherb Shop for burgers, Velvet Freeze walking home from CHS, Graduation, all of our showers and weddings. We had our first babies a few weeks apart. Friday night Bridge with our husbands, Tom and Cal. Then later our groups monthly lunches right up until Covid – she loved Josephine’s in Illinois, Bar Louis in Kirkwood. The Women’s Exchange and many more.
To the Family: I know how much she loved all of you and her thoughts were always of you and your welfare.
With deep condolences from both me and my husband,
Joan Schaller Yeckel
I’ll always have fond memories of June from the Crestwood neighborhood days! Family trips to the lake and falling asleep to the sounds of horseshoes during warm summer nights. What a blessed life and family you created.
Grandma, My memories of you are of all the love you poured into our faith and family. Some are so touching they bring tears to my eyes. You found out about my friend who was a missionary at an orphanage in Haiti. For years (yes, years) you diligently cut coupons for baby formula and diapers and mailed me to pass along to my friend. Others make laugh out loud. One of my favorites happened when my little sis and i spent the night. We were in bed and you were in the kitchen. We were trying to fall asleep when we heard (we were 100% convinced) a monster roaring in the other room! I think it took us two seconds to run from the bed to the kitchen! When we told you, you reassured us that there was no monster and took us back upstairs to show us the monster we heard roaring was Grandpa snoring! Lol! I love that memory and so many more…swinging on the tire swing, the bubble gum machine, grandpa playing German records and Alvin and the Chipmunks in the basement while we danced and played. Thank you so much grandma to putting your heart and soul into all you did for others. You have always been and will continue to be someone I aspire to be! I love you and please tell grandpa I love him too. Love, Rissy
