Dear son of the late George H. and Ruth A. Hoesch (nee Hussmann). Dear brother of the late Barbara H. Flake and George R. Hoesch. Dear uncle of Mark Flake, John Flake, Jared (Lisa) Flake, Christine (Paul) Ziegler and Matthew (Katie) Hoesch. Our dear cousin and friend to many.
SERVICES: A private celebration of life will be celebrated at a later date. John was a member of the Affton Elks Lodge #2635. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Wounded Warriors appreciated.
John and I went to senior prom together. He was a sweet and wonderful man.
John was a great guy! His conservative politics were refreshing especially on my calls from Toledo. Stayed at his home when I was in St. Louis. Had 2 channels on his TV. Fox News and St Louis Cardinals baseball. Unless there was a Missouri game on. I will sorely miss the late night Manhattan’s and great conversations. He was a very intelligent man. Wonderful sense of humor and we always laughed a lot. I will miss him tremendously. Irreplaceable! Was not an early riser as I always ate breakfast without him. One of the nicest people I knew as he put up with me staying at his house. I could go on and on about what a great guy he was!
Through grade school and high school and the many years beyond John was always a pleasure to be around, smart, funny and all around nice guy. He will definitely be missed.
Jane and my prayers are with John and his family at this sad time for all.

We have known each other since grade school.
John was so smart, so funny and had a contagious laugh.
He always had some good one liners no matter what the conversation was about.
One of the last voicemails I had from him was “don’t bother me, I’m watching Gutfeld..
He was very updated on world events.
John always was the social one, not only with our group , but with his camping friends and former work friends.
He was always the last one to leave.
I will miss you terribly my dear friend. It helps knowing you are in your glory..

John was my roommate in the dorm at Mizzou in ‘78 – ‘79.
He had many friends there at Smith Hall and we all remained friends for our entire lives.
We called ourselves “The Clams” and John was indeed one of us.
We had many fun-filled days and nights in Columbia for those four years….some of which we can talk about – but others that we cannot!
Every year we would all convene back in Columbia for a Tiger football game and act like college kids again.
John absolutely loved our reunions.
This continued for decades and we all loved having him be a part of it.
We will miss his sweet positive spirit and his infectious laugh.
The Clams miss you Niña.
