Martin Kirner

In Loving Memory

Kirner, Martin C.

Kirner, Martin C. fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, Thurs., November 20, 2025.

Beloved husband of Lynne Kirner (nee Beckerle); loving father of Michael (Natalie Vonarx), David (Lexi Niemann), Katie, and Kara Kirner; dearest grandfather of Calvin, Leo, Oscar, Beatrice, and William Kirner; brother of Daniel Jr. (Karrie) and (the late Kathy) Kirner; son of the late Daniel Sr. and the late Dorothy (nee Fuse) Kirner; brother-in-law to Barb (Chris) Eichner, Tom Jr. (Abbie) Beckerle, Dave (Jane) Beckerle, Gerry (Kim) Beckerle, Julie (Steve) Graf, Jayne (Pat) Lynch, Don (Sherry) Beckerle, and the late Christine Beckerle, our dear uncle, cousin, and friend.

Marty had a profound love of life, his family, and his Catholic faith. Always the life of the party, Marty never met a stranger. He cherished good times with great friends and would never turn down a beer. Marty was an avid sports fan and thoroughly enjoyed attending Cardinal games over the years. An athlete himself, he spent his time playing softball, corkball, and darts several days a week well throughout his adult life. Marty loved his family and friends so well and will be deeply missed.

Services: Funeral from KUTIS CITY CHAPEL, 2906 Gravois Avenue, Tuesday, November 25, 12:15 p.m. to St. Gabriel the Archangel Church for 1 p.m. Mass. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation Monday, 4-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Mary’s South Side Catholic High School, 4701 S Grand Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63111, or The Two-Three Fund would be appreciated. The Two-Three Fund was formed when a beloved member of the St. Gabriel’s men’s softball team (#23)—that Marty played on for years—passed away. The fund donates money to families directly affected by cancer and other serious illnesses. Donations can be sent to Two-Three Fund ℅ Kenny Sturma 6416 Winona Ave. St. Louis, MO 63109.

  3. Marty was a classmate of mine at St. Mary’s High School.

He was a nice man. I remember that his dad served as an alderman and his mom replaced his dad in office after he passed.

    May he rest in peace.

  7. I will forever hear his voice on our softball fields … and above all his laughter.

There’s another lasting memory: even after life changed for him … we hung out at the Saint Gabriel picnic … had a couple of beers. And we couldn’t swap stories like we used to … we laughed and we laughed … and his kindness and friendship toward me were still there.

    Our love to Marty’s family.

There is truly no one quite like him.

May God’s light shine upon our friend… forever.
