It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Barbara Sue McClarney, on Wednesday, November 4, 2026 at the age of 78. She was a devoted mother whose love and guidance shaped the lives of her children and grandchildren. Her home was filled with her grace, wit, laughter, warmth, and care, reflecting the generosity and compassion she shared with everyone around her.
Barbara was known for her gentle spirit, sense of humor, nurturing nature, love of literature, and devotion to her family. She touched the lives of many and all who knew her couldn’t help but be attracted to her genuine, intentional kindness.
She leaves behind her loving husband of almost 50 years, Samuel E McClarney, her 5 children, Ericka (Joe), Ian (Emily), Allyson (James), Brendan (Jill), and Deirdre. She had 9 grandchildren whom she adored with her whole [monkey] heart – J Bryce, McCajor, McLaine, Vivian, McKarra, Finola, McAlister, Maeve, and Phaelan. The oldest of 7 siblings, she will be deeply missed by her brothers and sisters who will carry her memory with love and gratitude. Her love, wisdom, and quiet strength will remain in our hearts forever, and her memory will continue to inspire all who knew her.
A gathering of remembrance for Barb will be held at a later date. The family requests donations be made to Alzheimer’s charities and research. Arrangements entrusted to Kutis South County Chapel (5255 Lemay Ferry Road).
