  1. My Aunt Sheryl was always very good to me. She would, actually, listen to me when I spoke.

My first memory of Aunt Sheryl was when I met. She was stunning. And, she had a WICKED sense of humor.

My sincere condolences to you both. Sheryl was a dear, dear colleague and friend. She was the heart and soul of the History Department at Wash U and a mentor to students for many years.

  7. Dear Karen and Jim,

Susana and I were very saddened to hear of your mother’s passing. She was just a tremendous, good-hearted person and was of enormous help to me when I was chair of the department, always cheering me up when I badly needed it. Always someone I could depend on to show good sense, an upbeat attitude, and a real willingness to help others. She left an indelible mark on all those who knew her.

  9. Kathy and Matt, thank you so much. That means a lot to Karen and I.
To Hillel and Rick, you guys had a special relationship to our Mom. Henry B, David K, Max O, Derek H, Senator Tom also were on the same page. We are blessed. I remember going to one of the first Rams football game at Busch Stadium with some of you when I was around 18. Mom told me to be on my best behavior. We were all on our best behavior. She told us we all had to be. THAT’S MOM. Thank you gentlemen and your families.

  11. Dear Jim and Karen,
We were saddened to hear of the loss of your mom. We were lucky to have known her and appreciate so much how she loved the Vianney boys and our son Tim and how she always looked out for them and had their back. Tim loved your mom and had nothing but good things to say about her. Please take some comfort by remembering all the love and support she gave you and for the special moments you shared with her in her lifetime.
