Richard J. Stieren Born on December 2, 1931 fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church on Monday September 27, 2021 passed on at the age of 89. Beloved husband of Carol Stieren (nee Burrows). Loving father of James (Late Debby), John (Dianne), Tony (Bridie), Donna (Spencer Hurst), and Suzanne (Dave Baer). Grandfather of Megan Stieren (Jim Halbert), Brian Stieren, Josh Stieren (Alex), Cara Hurst (Nate Borgsmiller), Alex Hurst, Lauren Baer (Matt Bohnert), Natalie Baer (John Bergida), Michael Baer, Fr. Mitchell Baer. Loving Great Grandfather of Avery Borgsmiller, Austin Borgsmiller, Claire Bohnert, Ben Bohnert, Gus Bergida, and Monica Bergida. Rich is the son of Late Jerry and Late Frances (Hahn) Stieren; brother of the late Mary (late Al McFarland), Late Jerry (Jan), Late Tom (Joan). Rich was a dear uncle, great-uncle, cousin, and friend of all.

Rich honorably and bravely served his country in the US Army in Korea. Rich was an incredibly generous soul always looking to help out others. The greatest example of Rich’s charitable heart is the community park that he established in Sunset Hills on West Watson Road. He loved family and children and strived to leave a legacy that would encourage others to love one another and challenge themselves to live their lives by the motto that Rich demonstrated and that everyone that has ever met Rich knows…..

Services: Visitation will be held on Wednesday September 29th at Kutis Funeral Home (10151 Gravois Road, St. Louis MO 63123) from 4:00 to 9:00 pm. Rich’s funeral procession will depart Kutis Funeral Home at 9:00 am on Thursday September 30th. A funeral mass will be held at St Catherine Laboure Catholic Church (9740 Sappington Road, Sappington MO 63128) at 9:30 am followed by interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Following the interment at J. B. National Cemetery there will be a luncheon at Rich and Carol Stieren’s Park on West Watson Road (.20 miles north of Gravois (Highway 30)) in Sunset Hills. Parking is available adjacent to the Sunset Hills athletic fields.

    It is with profound sadness that we learned of Rich’s passing. Please accept our deepest sympathies on this terrible loss. Bill had the privilege of knowing Rich since shortly after Suzanne met Dave roughly 35 years ago whereas Irene, Sam and Alea for roughly 20. As a family, we discussed what stood out in our minds about Rich and it was unanimous- his smile, laugh and zest for life. Although we would sometimes go months or even years between visits, we would pick up conversations as if there was no gap between them. We will be reaching out in the future to check on you and will pray each day for each of you.
