“Pour forth Heaven’s blessings on our family. Remain in our midst. Help us to live in love and harmony, in peace and joy.” A Favorite Prayer of St. Joseph
Guided by her faith and devoted to her family, Carolina Suzanna Keil (“Carol”), 77, of Shrewsbury (St. Louis), MO, passed away on August 23, 2025, with family by her side in prayer.
Carol was born to the late U.S. Army Sergeant Walter John Heisner and late mother Elizabeth Alice Moellenbeck Heisner on January 1, 1948, in St. Louis, MO. Attending Catholic schools with perfect attendance throughout her education, Carol graduated from Bishop DuBourg High School in 1966. During her career, Carol spent over 16 years working as the Accounting Bookkeeper at The Salvation Army in the Central West End neighborhood of St. Louis, until her retirement in 2018.
She married the late Abel Keil, a Holocaust survivor and U.S. Navy Veteran, on July 19, 1968, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Shrewsbury, and celebrated their Golden Anniversary at the same venue, where she received many of the 7 Holy Sacraments. Carol and Abe were married for 54 years, until his passing on January 9, 2023. She is survived by her loving daughter Deborah Regina Way (Romeo Monzones), sons Abel Gregory (Sarah) Keil, Christopher John (Julie) Keil and James Matthew (Kelly) Duncan; adoring Grandmother to CJ, Joe, Joshua, Chloe, August, Meredith, Shea, Lindsay, Keyrstin and Levi; and Great-Grandmother to Elijah and Carson. She was predeceased by her late sister Jane Louise Torrence and late brother Walter Charles Heisner. Loved by many, Carol also leaves behind several close relatives and family friends.
From the radiocasts of Harry Carey to Jack Buck, Mike Shannon to present day John Rooney, Carol proudly supported her hometown St. Louis Baseball Cardinals– regularly listening and cheering on the Redbird games since her childhood. An avid card player, cook, and baker, she loved hosting family celebrations, birthdays, holidays, and Sunday dinners. Most of all, Carol truly enjoyed sharing her delicious cookies, cakes and desserts with everyone during each Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season.

Carol was my dear friend for many years. We would attend Masses at different parishes in the city and then out to breakfast! She was a lovely compassionate lady with a good word about everyone and I will miss her greatly!
