Tim and VeeBee

In Loving Memory

Velgos, Timothy Matthew

March 25, 1992 - August 22, 2025

Timothy Matthew Velgos, 33, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025, after battling brain cancer with courage, resilience, and grace.
Tim’s life was marked by curiosity, creativity, and a boundless sense of devotion to those he loved. He was especially proud of his career with the Mayo Clinic, where he worked as an IT analyst and programmer. Beyond his career, Tim was a passionate and enthusiastic gamer, a lover of music who aspired to produce his own work some day, and an avid fan of horror, fantasy, anime, and D&D. His sharp wit, terrible jokes, relentlessly kind heart, and joyful exuberance for the things he loved will be remembered by all who knew him.
Tim is reunited in passing with his parents. He is survived by his wife, Sophia; his cats, Sylvie and VeeBee; his friends, whom he loved fiercely; and his sister, Stefanie. He is also remembered with love by extended family, whose kindness and support meant so much to him.
A viewing and visitation will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 2 pm until 6 pm, at Kutis Affton Chapel. 10151 Gravois Rd. 63123

    • I precisely echo Kathy’s sediments. I had the great pleasure to meet Tim on several occasions… We had in-person brainstorming/troubleshooting meetings, work lunches, happy hours, etc. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Tyler Holm – Mayo Clinic

  4. I wish Tim’s family the deepest condolences in this incredible sad and testing time. I spent several years working with Tim when he first joined Mayo. He was such a nice, funny, and hard-working guy. The world is a little bit dimmer place without Tim in it. Knowing Tim and sharing his love of many of the same hobbies and interests I think this quote is incredibly apt.

No one is finally dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away, until the clock wound up winds down, until the wine she made has finished its ferment, until the crop they planted is harvested. The span of someone’s life is only the core of their actual existence.

  5. Heartfelt condolences to the Velgos family. While I only had the pleasure of meeting Tim a few times, I worked with his father for many years, and Tim exemplified his dad’s grace and kindness

  6. I’m so sorry Velgos family for your loss! I too, worked with Tim for several years at Mayo. He came in and assumed ownership of a very unique application here and quickly became the expert; he was incredibly dependable, helpful and patient with our constant questions or requests, and contributed to numerous successful projects. The other comments here about his quick wit, dry humor, and kindness are spot on! You will be missed, Tim!
