Kestler, Janice M. (nee Fernandez)

September 30, 1948 - February 6, 2026

Friday, February 6, 2026.

Beloved wife of Geno Kestler; loving mother of Eric (Tonya) Kestler, Nicki (Dan) Ryan and Brian (Angie) Kestler; adoring grandmother of Nick (Jaylnn), Jake, Grace and Sam Kestler, Jack (Emma), Frank, Claire and Cate Ryan, Ben (fiancé Hunter Cook), Joe and Tomas Kestler; cherished sister of the late Joy (Rick) Phillips and Joey (surviving Cindy) Fernandez; dear sister-in-law of Mary June (Harold) Walker, Gary (Donna) Kestler, Kevin (Jackie) Kestler and the late Xavier “Bub” Kestler and Karl (surviving Robyn) Kestler. Our dearest aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend to many.

Janice Marie Theresa Fernandez Kestler was born in the historic Carondelet neighborhood of South St. Louis City, where her strong sense of community and vibrant personality first began to shine. She attended grade school at Sts. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church and School, building the foundation of faith and friendship that would guide her throughout her life.

A proud Cleveland High Dutchman from the class of 1967, Janice carried her school spirit with her everywhere she went. In July of 1974, she became a member of the Spanish American Girls Society, embracing the camaraderie and lifelong bonds that came with it.

Janice was the devoted wife of Geno Kestler for 54 wonderful years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family. She was the loving mother of Eric, Nicki, and Brian, each of whom she supported with unwavering pride and joy.

To her 11 grandchildren, she was affectionately known as “Gran Jan,” a title she held with tremendous delight. Her home and heart were always open, and she made each grandchild feel uniquely cherished.

A dedicated employee of Hager Hinge Companies for more than 30 years, Janice approached her work with loyalty, energy, and care—attributes she carried into every aspect of her life.

Janice never met a stranger. She had an infectious smile, a generous spirit, and an uncanny ability to make everyone feel welcome. Whether offering help, sharing a laugh, or lighting up a room with her unmistakable presence, she was always the life of the party.

Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and the love she gave so freely.

Love you mucho Ma!
