Eleanor Reeves passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026 in Arnold, Missouri. She was 94 years old. She was born on August 10, 1931 in Houston, Texas to Mr. and Mrs. William and Eleanor Geusz. She was one of five children.
Eleanor graduated from Hancock High School in Lemay, Missouri. She worked at Defense Mapping her entire career as a security assistant.
Eleanor married Walter Reeves on October 20, 1951. During this past year, they celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary. Walter and Eleanor had one daughter, Deborah (Reeves) Gawlik born on May 15, 1958.
Eleanor’s husband Walter, gave her a Bible when they first met. She kept that Bible by her side and it was with her when she passed.
Eleanor was a beloved matriarch whose warmth and generosity touched all who knew her. She was a loving wife, mother and friend. Eleanor was a hard working woman who was dedicated to caring and serving her family. In spite of the trials of life, Eleanor was a very determined and driven person. She pressed on and kept going even though some days were very difficult for her.
She loved to cook and try new recipes. A couple of her favorite recipes were a succulent pot roast with gravy that you could cut with a fork and Gooey Butter Cake.
Eleanor had a fascination with owl figurines. She collected many on her own, and family and friends enjoyed buying them for her too. Her collection grew to hundreds of owls over many years.
Eleanor loved dogs. Her favorite breed was the Cairn Terrier because they did not shed and were small. She and her husband owned four different Terriers. They always took their dogs with them on vacation.
She enjoyed knitting and crocheting with her younger sister, Marlene. They made Christmas trees that they sold at craft fairs. Those who attended the fairs looked for their booth every year. They also crocheted afghans.
Eleanor loved planting and tending to flowers in her yard. She enjoyed watching and learning about birds. She especially enjoyed hummingbirds.
Eleanor is preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Reeves Gawlik, her husband, Walter Reeves, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William and Eleanor Geusz and her five siblings. She is survived by her son-in-law, Ray Gawlik.
The funeral will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 1 pm at Kutis Funeral Home, Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois Rd. St. Louis, Missouri. The family will receive guests beginning at 12 noon. The service will begin at 1 pm. Immediately following the service there will be a burial at Park Lawn Cemetery located at 1800 Lemay Ferry Road.
Eleanor will be greatly missed by family and friends.
