Linus Anthony “Tony” Hermann

Linus Anthony “Tony” Hermann, 82, of Arnold died on June 5, 2026 at Mercy South Hospital in St. Louis. Mr. Hermann grew up on a farm in Ste. Genevieve and attended Valle Catholic Schools. He served in the U.S. Army, worked at General Motors, and then became a residential carpenter for the next 40+ years. Known to be humorous and outgoing, he would spend time with family and friends and would often work with his children on home projects. He devoted time to the church for events and projects including an outdoor chapel and a daycare. His main interests revolved around fishing, and while his most memorable fishing trips were to Canada, he was often found on one of Missouri’s many lakes. At home when he wasn’t cutting wood, mowing grass, or maintaining the house, he tended a garden that would produce a variety of vegetables. Until his last day though, the very top of his list was to make sure his deer and turkeys got their twice-daily can of corn. Born December 22, 1943, he is the son of the late Edgar and Thelma (Jokerst) Hermann.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years: Janet (Wittkopf) Hermann; six children: Cheryl (Kurt) Marty, Brian (Renee Hackmann) Hermann, Steven (Tenia) Hermann, David (Gina) Hermann, Michael (Cassie) Hermann, and Christopher Hermann; twelve grandchildren: Hunter, Alex, Chelsea, Meghan, Hannah, Bailey, Collin, Nicholas, Rose, Violet, Brooke, and Billy; two great-grandchildren: Greyson and Kolson; and eight siblings: Carol Reinhardt, Janet Schmelzle, Bernie (Michelle) Hermann, Neil (Carolyn) Hermann, Ruth (Gary) Urbantke, Mary (Norman) Reed, Geri Hermann, and Mark (Karen) Hermann.

He is preceded in death by two grandchildren: Brittney and Brandon; and two brothers-in-law: Joe Reinhardt and Joe Schmelzle.

Visitation is June 20, 2026 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with a funeral mass to immediately follow. All services will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church Parish Center, 2300 Church Rd., in Arnold. In lieu of flowers, donations to masses or toward the construction of the new Holy Family Church are appreciated.
