In Loving Memory

Varga, Alan John

March 22, 1948 - July 9, 2026

Beloved husband of Shirley Varga (nee: Schmitz). Dear father of Sheila (Tyler) King, Stacey (Bill) Hulsey, and Nikki (Chris) Wilson. Loving grandfather of Liz, Gabe, Aidan, Emily, Julia, Kayla, Luke, and Jordan. Dear brother of Steve (Ann) Varga, Gloria (Mike) Chafin, Marilyn (Andy) Presti, Rosie (the late Larry) Wagstaff and the late Barbara Murphy. Our dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to many.

After high school, Alan spent 4 years in the Air Force. He married his high school sweetheart and raised 3 remarkable daughters. Alan spent his career as an accountant and retired from Save A Lot’s corporate office. He continued to assist his family and friends with their taxes for many years post retirement. In his past time he loved golfing, hanging at Fergies on Thursday evenings with his buddies, spending time outdoors gardening or just hanging out on his deck. Alan was one of the greatest sports fans. He managed different sports pools with his friends. Alan always had a smile on his face and was a very proud grandpa. He loved being with his family and friends. He was also a yatzhee champion with a high score of 614.

Alan loved his flannel, so in honor of Alan if you want to wear flannel to the visitation, you are welcome to do so.

  1. Shirley, Sheila, Stacey, and Nikki … May God comfort you in this immeasurable loss. Alan was truly one of a kind, a Burgen neighbor and good friend who always helped in a moment of need. With that Alan smile! His joy was a gift. He will be missed. Love, Lou
