Carl R. Poinsett entered into rest on Monday, August 3, 2026 at age 83, beloved husband of the late Sunny Poinsett (nee Bueker) for 64 years; loving father of Stacy (John) Hosie and Joy (Joe) McMahon; cherished Paw Paw of Johnny (Katelind), Danielle (Alan), Payton, and Cade; great-Paw Paw of Luka, Daxton and Nora; dearest son of the late Dewey Poinsett and Lelia Souliare; our dear brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend to many.
Carl was a man who never met a stranger, generous to a fault and always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. In every conversation, he made a point of asking about your life first, genuinely wanting to know how you and your family were doing before he ever spoke of himself. The love of his life was Sunny, and together they raised two daughters, Stacy and Joy, who filled his heart with pride. But his grandchildren/great grandchildren held a special place all their own — “those babies,” as he lovingly called them even as adults, were his greatest joy and the center of his world. Under a sometimes stubborn exterior was a softhearted man with a great sense of humor that cared deeply for his family and friends and will be missed greatly.
A memorial visitation will be held at Kutis South County Chapel 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd. on Saturday, August 29, from 9 a.m. until time of service 11 a.m. (with all services concluding at Kutis). Donations to deGreeff Hospice House
