Powell

In Loving Memory

Powell, Jack P.

December 1, 1936 - September 8, 2026

Beloved husband of the late Carol Ann Powell (nee: Hildebrand). Dear father of Linda (Joe) Lodes and Craig (Karen Jost) Powell. Dear grandfather of Joe (Sydney) Lodes, Sydney (Danny LaVigne) Lodes, Zach Lodes, Ben Lodes and Natalie Lodes. Dear great grandfather of Vivienne and Liam Lodes. Our dear cousin and friend of many.

Jack dedicated 33 years of service to Anheuser-Busch before his well-earned retirement.  Jack’s retirement gave him more time for his true passions: his family and his garden.

Of all his achievements, Jack was most proud of his wife of 65 years and family.  He was officially his families #1 Fan, a title he earned by attending as many games, competitions, dance recitals, and car races that he possibly could.

To know Jack was to taste his legendary homegrown tomatoes.   Every year he planted a garden with care, ensuring there was enough to share with family, friends, and neighbors.  His tomatoes were so exceptional that any extras were bought and featured on menus of several restaurants in Soulard and Kirkwood.  Jack also grew several 100-pound-plus pumpkins, including his personal record-breaker: a massive 190-pound pumpkin.

Jack loved his T-Days (Tuesdays and Thursdays), when he looked forward to meeting up with fellow A-B Retirees.  These afternoons were filled with cold beer, live music, laughter, and karaoke.

For several years, Jack served as a dedicated volunteer for Operation Food Search, giving his time to help feed local families in need.

Visitation at Kutis Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois Rd., St. Louis, MO. 63123, on Saturday, September 19, 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Condolences
