James Orville Kempf
April 2, 1945- January 22, 2018
Jim was born to farmer parents Louis and Hilda Kempf of Sunset Hills, Mo. where he was also raised with sister Laverne, and brothers Eugene and Floyd. He graduated from Lindbergh High School in 1963 and went on to join the Army National Guard, serving until 1970. He served as an officer for the Kirkwood, Mo Police Department until his retirement in 2002.
Jim is survived by son James “Jim” (Kristine) Kempf and daughter Rebecca (Danny) LaRue, as well as grandchildren Katherine and Jeremy Kempf and Hope and Nicholas LaRue.
In his life Jim was a motorcycle enthusiast and took numerous cross-country rides with friends including at least once participating in the Barstow to Vegas Dessert Race. He had a love for life, his family, the outdoors, and riding and will be missed by many.
A memorial visitation will be held at Kutis Funeral Home in Affton, Mo at 10151 Gravois Rd on Sunday, January 28 from Noon-2pm with interment in the week following. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Jim’s name to either the Backstoppers or the Alzheimer’s Association.
