Brown

In Loving Memory

Brown, Gwendolyn Sue “Wendy”

May 9, 1965 - July 11, 2024

Brown, Gwendolyn Sue “Wendy” (nee Raich) Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church Thursday, July 11, 2024. Beloved wife of Scott Brown for over 31 years. Dearest mother of Matthew Brown (Fiancee’ Allie DeGuire) and Christopher Brown; loving daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (nee Busch) Raich; dear sister of Annie Crim, Debbie (Rob) Brusewitz, Katie (Mitch) Kemner, Mike (Stephanie) Raich and the late infant Leo Raich; dear daughter-in-law of Bernie and the late Mary Ann Brown; dear-sister-in law of Sue (Kevin) Verble and Peggy (Bryan) Bertsch; proud dog mom to Clay, Crosby and Rawlings; our dear niece, aunt, cousin and friend to many.

Wendy grew up in Roxana, IL and was a diehard Shell fan. At Roxana she played softball and was a member of Student Council, but her true love was cheerleading, especially for her dad’s Roxana Shells Football Teams. She continued on cheerleading professionally as a member of the Storm Twisters. While cheering for the KC Chiefs at a preseason game at old Busch Stadium she “met” her future husband Scott…she was third from the right, back row. That encounter would lead to a marriage that would last just shy of 32 years.

Wendy worked at Ameren for 35+ years, initially working as a secretary while completing her undergrad at SIU-E and working her way all the way up to Director of Digital after earning her MBA, also from SIU-E.

Wendy was very devoted to her Catholic Faith and found so much comfort and joy in the ACTS Retreat she went on, both as a participant and later a leader. It was very comforting to her to have many of those women come back and say the Divine Mercy Chaplet for her.

However, Wendy was best known for her love and devotion to her two boys and driving and following them all over the country to their countless number of hockey and baseball games and practices. When they began preparing for college, the void was filled by her three other babies: her golden retrievers. Wendy truly appreciated everyone in her life, but she was most appreciative of her family.

Services: Visitation at KUTIS SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd. Wednesday July 17, 4-8 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church Thursday, July 18 at 10 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to CBC High School or Siteman Cancer Center appreciated.

  21. Scott and family,
Wendy was such a wonderful person. When she was my supervisor at Ameren she let me work from home when my husband crushed his knee, even though she wasn’t supposed to. We would always share our love of dogs by trading stories and pictures. I will miss her so much.
