  3. His laugh is still ringing in my ears. There was never a better Chris Kringle! I know he is waiting for us in “the sweet by and by”/ heaven. I am sorry for our family’s loss. I will miss the big guy with the big personality with the giant laugh and huge hugs. Chris loved his family and was ever dedicated to friends and family.
May we who mourn his death be consoled by having shared his life. This I pray.

  4. I miss my Grandpa Cupcake. I miss when he would swing us around when we were little and sit on his lap while he told us stories. I miss his encouragement throughout my academic career and the love and support he always showed me, my sisters, my mom, and grandma. I know he’s still looking down on us and I will love and miss him always.

  6. RIP Chris, my condolences to Marlene, Natalie and your family. You were a true all around great man, sincere, had a heart of gold, funny and cussed like a sailor.

The fond memories I have span 46 years.
Living on Sweetgum, watching through the window at 6am, also how i learned to cuss. The horn in your van….”Oooollllllgaaaaa”, a sound to this day I’ll never forget. Watching the love you had for Marlene, while surprising her on her 75th and you telling the good old day stories on my parents 50th. You were truly one of a kind and will be dearly missed by many.

Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts. May your spirit  be with us in memories we hold

  7. I’m going to miss my brother more than I can imagine. I was the 5 year old who got to pick my younger brother from the crib at the orphanage. I remember the red hair and big smile even at that young age. Rest in Peace, I’ll be seeing you again. Love you.

  11. My heart is heavy tonight hearing the sad news of Chris passing away …. But my tears soon faded into a smile with the thought of him pain free in heaven now… just imagine how much louder it is there now 🙂 we often referred to him as Christmas Petty !! he was a larger than life character ! I remember the first day he walked into our shop in the 80’s wearing bright color jams shorts with careless wild red hair & goatee … he said my name is Chris but my friends call me strawberry … he brought so much life & laughter into our world … there could never be another one like him !! I’m thankful to have known chris and him my friend … thoughts & prayers to Marlene and Natalie and Christine from all of us over at Midwest during this difficult time

  15. Marlene, I just found out about Chris, I feel so bad that I didn’t check on him sooner, Chris and I go back to the early 90s when he did some work at my house and we became friends instantly. I remember how we used to meet at Rays quick shop, and we would play scratch offs and drink coffee.
When Betty and I moved to Florida, and he came to visit a couple of times, we had such fun. I could go on and on but the fact is my heart is heavy today and it hurts for you Marlene and your family. I will miss him and playing words. May he RIP . I know he is missed by all who knew him.

    With heartfelt sympathy
