Lloyd Thomas Clayton, 89, passed away on October 6, 2023. He is survived and forever loved by his two children, Thomas (Yvonne) Clayton and Jennifer (Sherrod) Ferguson. He will be missed by his three grandchildren: Jacob Clayton, Madison Clayton, and Garrett Ferguson.
Lloyd was born on July 8, 1934, to the late Earl and Erma (nee Pfefferkorn) Clayton. The oldest of five siblings; James Clayton, Darlene Sample, Rita Ostendorf, and the late John Clayton. He served in the United States Navy where he received Medals for Expert Rifleman, Expert Pistol, and Good Conduct. After his outstanding military service, he continued his service as a police officer for the Olivette Police Department. He retired in 1994 from the St. Louis Carpenter’s Union.
Lloyd was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and his greatest passion, until his passing, was target shooting with his children, grandchildren, and his best friend, Richard Brown.
Lloyd will always be known for being selfless, honest, loyal, integrous, respectful, and for his unconditional love for family. He was a simple man who lived a simple life. Lloyd will always be remembered for never leaving home without his cowboy boots and cowboy hat.
Lloyd has been reunited by Christ with his wife Loretta Clayton of 57 years, where they are dancing together again.
SERVICES: Visitation and Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 16th at Laclede Groves Chapel (723 South Laclede Station Road, Webster Groves, Missouri, 63119). Visitation will be held from 9-11am, with funeral service beginning at 11am. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery with Full Military Honors immediately following service. Luncheon following interment for family and friends at Laclede Groves. A service of KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL.
