MICHAEL J. CRAIN
Michael James Crain, son of Robert Harrison and Peggy Jean nee Mataya Crain, was born April 3, 1962 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was baptized in infancy at St. Lucas Lutheran Church on Morganford and on Palm Sunday 1976 he also confirmed his faith there.
From Cleveland High School he graduated in 1980 and initially became engaged in automobile repair before receiving an Associates Degree in Internet Technology. He then entered the staff at Anheuser Busch as an MIS Technical Analyst. After some time there he worked at several other places before ultimately entering the employ of Energizer where he was serving as a computer architect at the time of his passing.
On April 7, 1984 at St. Lucas Lutheran he married Annette Marie McDonald with whom he was privileged to enjoy 34 years in the nuptial estates.
Besides his loving spouse, Annette, he is survived by his daughter Amanda Michelle Crain, alongside his brother Stephen (Vickie) Crain and his sister Cheryl (Emil) Sodomka as well as his brothers and sisters-in-law Michael McDonald, Maureen (Daniel) White, Johnathan (Amy) White, Michael White, Virginia (Todd Vincent) Williams, Shaun (Barbara) McDonald; and Melissa (Paul Ferguson) McDonald. He further is survived by his nieces and nephews: Matthew Crain, Rachael Crain and her child Jacob Ortiz, and Michael (Nichole Clynes) Crain and their children: Olivia and Harrison; Rebecca (Timothy) Spiegel and their children: Elijah and Genevieve Spiegel; Jeremiah (Amanda) Sodomka and their children: Amelia and Audrey Sodomka; Alexandra (Joseph) Goodell and their children: Josiah and Cecily Goodell; Anastasia Sodomka; Sarah (Dylan) Critchfield and their children: Ruthie and Karliah Critchfield; James Keegan McDonald; Jax, Max, and Cooper White. He was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law James and Michael McDonald.
Mike’s health began to wain prior to his being diagnosed in 2008 with spinal difficulties. He subsequently sought therapeutic and surgical help yet after years of attempting such, a remedy did not ensue.
Finally, this past November 25th he fell at his home and consequently underwent orthopedic surgery on November 28th. Several days later he was released from hospitalization and returned home to receive the loving attention of his friends and family yet their efforts did not succeed, for on Saturday, December 15, 2018, while attending daughter Amanda’s graduation from Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri, he experienced a pulmonary embolism from which he did not recover. He departed this life there about 10:00 p.m. Saturday, December 15, 2018, attaining the age of 56 years, 8 months, and 12 days.
Visitation at Kutis Affton 10151 Gravois Road, Thursday, December 20, 4-8 p.m. and also at Peace Lutheran Church, Friday, December 21, 9:30 until service at 10:30 a.m.
Following this service he will be interred at St. Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.
