Of St. Louis, Missouri entered into his eternal rest in the arms of his Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Nazareth Living Center in St. Louis, MO at the age of 61. He was born February 1, 1961 in St. Louis.
Dear son of Richard & Diane Dohack; Loving brother of Richard Dohack (Pat), Mary Meyer (Phil), Michael Dohack (Kathy), David Dohack (Ann), Timothy Dohack (Heather), Stephen Dohack (Chinda), Carol Templeton (Tom), Joann Feldhaus (Lou), Diane Richter (John), Chris Dohack; Beloved uncle and great uncle; Dear cousin, nephew, friend.
What a blessing and joy our Robert was! He gave more to us than we ever could give to him. He was funny (actually, hilarious), sharp, quick witted, patient, unselfish, thoughtful, outgoing, creative and completely unmaterialistic. He loved his family and friends unconditionally… especially his Mom and Dad. He had a truly special connection with God and attended church every day at Nazareth. He often told many of us that he prayed for us that day! Not a phone call ended (and there were MANY) without him saying “I love you!”.
In spite of Rob’s handicap and bleak prognosis as a child (diagnosed with Hydrocephalus at birth along with other complications), he defied the odds and thrived! Mom worked with him every day to help him overcome his challenges. He loved bowling and riding bikes as he grew older, attended special school, participated in the Special Olympics, and worked at Dohack’s Restaurant (as well as Ponderosa, Denny’s, Schnucks & Dierberg’s). The employees of Dohack’s were part of his extended family and they all made a difference in his life. All of South County knew him and looked after him! He was able to live on his own for many years with the companionship of his beloved cat, Casper. He reached a stage where he needed to be cared for and moved to an assisted living facility and then finally a nursing home when he could no longer walk. He lived at Nazareth living center for the past 2 years and what a blessing this was! He was loved, well cared for and treated with understanding, patience and dignity. Thank you to all of the caretakers throughout his life. Also, a special thank you to friends and family who went out of their way to spend time with Rob and do special things for him, including the Mehlville Fire Department. Your expressions of love were his joy!
Coloring pictures was his hobby and passion! Every single picture he made was done with love! He gathered dozens of pictures at a time (all personally signed on the back with his full name) and had them packaged and sent to children’s hospitals around the St. Louis area to “Brighten their day”. He distributed them to his family, friends, caretakers and complete strangers as a way of expressing his love. We will cherish the time he spent coloring them (“It took me 8 hours to color this one!”(wink) and the love that flowed through them.
Rob, you are our hero and so loved. We will miss you every day and you will forever remain in our hearts. So, until we see you again, “See you later, Alligator! Afterwhile, Crocodile! But not too soon, Baboon!”. WE LOVE YOU! And LET’S GO BLUES!!!
We request that everyone who loved Robert join us in celebrating his beautiful life on Friday, Oct 28. There will be a gathering before mass at 9:00 a.m. in the foyer of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Church, 4900 Ringer Rd, St. Louis, MO 63129. Mass will take place at 10:00 and there will be a procession to escort him to his final resting place at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Cardinal Glennon hospital who took wonderful care of Robert as a child, www.glennon.org

It was a real honor to meet Rob and to know him more through my beautiful friend Carol. The love Rob had for people was so genuine and so obvious the first few moments of meeting him. He truly was a blessing to his family and everyone. We, the Donovan’s are so sorry for your loss. We’ll always remember Rob’s smile. May perpetual light shine upon him.

Dear Dohack Family,
I remember Rob’s cheerful smile at Dohack’s Restaurant when we went there to eat. He loved washing dishes or making pie crusts, but did whatever was needed. He always visited with the patrons in the dining room whenever he had a break. His was a life worth living, as he touched so many people with his love. God bless Rob and the whole Dohack family.

Wonderful tribute for this exceptional gentleman. Sorry to read of his passing. He always had a smile on his face and followed often by laughter.
May he now rest in peace with the Lord whom he loved and visited often.
