  3. Mary was a bright light in this world and she gave of herself selflessly. When my kids were little, she babysat them along with several other littles at “the blue house” at Sacred Heart. She did this so us moms could pray together as we navigated this new time in our lives. The kids, now all grown up, remember Miss Mary with a special fondness. I will forever be grateful for her kindness. May she rest peacefully in the living arms of Jesus.

  5. Spending time with my Aunt Mary was a source of a lot of great childhood memories, and growing up she remained a bright spot in my life, someone I was always happy to see, to spend time with, and talk to. Every summer when it gets warm and sunny, I’m reminded of time spent with her, and the family gatherings she helped brighten.

She’s going to be very missed.

  7. We remember Mary as being a very friendly person who you could make friends with before & after Mass. It was when Sacred Heart was undergoing reconstruction and we would meet up with Mary often in a school hallway where Fr. Rickey Valleroy was often the celebrant. Sacred Heart was a larger parish then & most of us were not overly interested in getting to know our fellow parishioners.
But Mary was so nice & caring. Another thing that we remember about Mary is that Mario’s birthday would often fall during the Fish Fry season & Mary often brought delicious treats for the workers to share before and/or after serving our customers.
We are welcoming ministers now, a new term for ushers. Of all the people at Sacred Heart that we have come to know during our 53.5 yrs. as parishioners not many have exhibited more warmth and friendliness than Mary Gioia. Even though Mary didn’t have a title, she was a role model for all churchgoers. Today she is surely resting in the palm of His hand.
