I am sorry for tge loss of Tom Bowes, a great man. He and I were together in the 1967-1968 Map Compiling Course, Ft. Belvoir, VA, then to DMAAC, St Louis for a short time then he to Germany and I to Panama. During Tom’s lead of the Ron Brown Airfield Initiative he trusted me to make arrangements throughout the Caribbean and South America to establish GPS coordinates which lead to the successful use of GPS in ensuring safe flight throughout the region. THANK YOU TOM!
Tom Bowes was, without question, one of the finest examples of leadership in NGA. He believed deeply in giving junior employees the opportunity to learn, grow, and demonstrate their own progress.
Beyond that, he brought humor, kindness, and a steady presence to every challenge—someone you could always count on when the problems were hardest.
I’m so sorry to hear this news. He was a truly good man, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
I am so sorry to hear about your dad’s death. I know the party in heaven when your mom met him at heaven’s gate must have been awesome. We will be praying for all of you. Please give your Aunt Alice a hug for me.
Tom, a friend and key coworker in the development and operation of DMA’s Automated Air Information Production System before moving on to greener pastures will be greatly missed by all who knew him. May God Bless Tom and his loving family.
Sorry to hear about Tom’s passing. I also worked for Tom at Defense Mapping in Flight Info. He was a delight to work for. Tom was so thoughtful. My condolences.
