Dan was born in North St Louis and educated at St Matthew’s School and De Andreis High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps and worked for 35 years at the Federal Reserve Bank of St Louis. Dan was an athlete and avid sports fan throughout his life. He enjoyed playing soccer and baseball/softball from childhood well into middle adulthood, and he was inducted into the St Louis Soccer Hall of Fame in 1998. He followed the Cardinals baseball and Blues hockey teams over many decades and he was delighted to be able to attend a St Louis City SC game during their inaugural season. He also took great pleasure in attending the sporting events of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cheering them on and eagerly buying them something from the concession stand after their games. Dan was quick to smile or laugh and he often sang, whistled or hummed while doing things around the house. He enjoyed traveling with Darlene throughout the United States, stopping at Civil War historical sites or marveling at the great outdoors in National Parks like Yellowstone. Finally, Dan was also an animal lover and enjoyed visiting the St Louis Zoo with his grandkids and taking long walks with his buddy Dooley.
