Hasselbring, Rose Irene (nee Bender)

February 20, 1936 - August 2, 2024

Rose Irene Hasselbring (nee Bender) went home to be with the Lord on August 2, 2024. She was the daughter of Erving and Pauline (nee Keller) Bender, godchild of the beloved Lewis and Irene (nee Bender) Collins, beloved sister of Yvonne Lubke, thank you for sharing your life with me. Beloved wife of Walt Hasselbring for 57 years until his death in 2014. She was the beloved mother of Al (Sandy) Hasselbring, Sue Hasselbring, Nancy Stallard, Paul Hasselbring, Carl Hasselbring (Christy Hayes), Sandy (Adriel) Avila, JoAnn (James) Gusewelle. She was the grandmother of Alison (Justin) Austin, Anna Rose (Cody Scott) and Adam Hasselbring; Rebecca Rose and Joshua Stallard; Nathan and Matthew Hasselbring; Holly, Robert and Sydney Hayes; Jacob, Kristin, Michael and Timothy Gusewelle; and Jordan, Gabby, Elizabeth Rose, John, Maria and Grace Avila; and the great grandmother of Dean and Lea Rosemary Austin; and Maya Avila; de

Rose was born on February 20, 1936, and was baptized on May 17, 1936, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Arnold. She was also confirmed there on April 10, 1949. Rose graduated from Crystal City High School in 1954, and attended nursing school at Lutheran Hospital. She married her handsome husband Walt on September 21, 1956.

Rose loved Jesus and enjoyed serving Him by serving others. Her life’s work was being a mother to her 7 children and teaching them all to follow Jesus. Rose was very active in the Mother’s Club of her children’s schools for decades. When her last child went off to college, she worked at Prudential until she retired. At Christ Memorial she was active in the Women’s Guild and volunteered in the Shepherd Ministry, Fitness Center, and Music Ministry Office. Rose loved spending time with her 20 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was a caring aunt, godmother, cousin and friend to many.

Rose loved to be part of Bible Study Groups and found comfort in this verse: John 14:1-3 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”

Visitation will be on August 11 from 3 to 7pm at Kutis Funeral Home in Affton located at 10151 Gravois Road and August 12 from 10 to 11am at Christ Memorial Lutheran Church located at 5252 Lindbergh Blvd. The funeral service will be August 12 at 11am at Christ Memorial Lutheran Church followed by lunch. Rose wanted everyone to enjoy a meal after the funeral service. Burial will be at approximately 1:30pm at St John’s Lutheran Cemetery, 3517 Jeffco Blvd, Arnold.
