  1. MaryJo and Patty, I am sorry to hear of your father’s passing. I’ve always enjoyed his poinsettias at Christmas time, and reading about his horticulture expertise. My cousin in St. Louis loved going to visit his nursery.
May you and your families be comforted by your memories.

  15. To the entire Heimos family,
Bill and I are saddened about the passing of our dearest Norwin. Our thoughts and prayers are with each and everyone of the entire Heimos family.
As you all know Bill had a very long and special relation with Norwin. They always discussed not only horticultural innovations but personal family matters as well.
He will sorely be missed. May his sole Rest In Peace.

  23. Some years ago the Heimos family asked me to go to Norwin’s home to inspect his windows. I knew of his business success and so I was looking forward to meeting him. I found him to be so much more than a widely successful entrepreneur. As I introduced myself he invited me in and as is my custom I always start from the basement and move up floors. As I was going down a basement hall I saw portraits of the boys in their Missouri Military Academy uniforms. We then sat down in a basement room and I was surrounded by pictures of his greenhouses both past and present. We talked about his children and the pride he had in his sons and daughters. We then talked about some of the greenhouses and frankly I could have stayed their all day listening to his stories. What struck me was how humble and approachable Norwin was. I asked him numerous questions about the Greenhouse business and I figured he was probably wondering when I was going to get to why I was there………WINDOWS. I was at his home three more times as we installed his new windows and I looked forward to each visit. We would sit at his kitchen table and he would ask me some window questions and then he and I would just converse about a lot of things. What a terrific man, I am blessed for having known him. Nancy and I will keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers.
