Katherine “Kathie” (Dame) Herman, 68, of St. Louis, passed away on November 3, 2026. She was a cherished wife, mom, grandmother, sister, friend, and Aunt Ding Dong. We were truly fortunate to have her, and her absence will be felt in ways words cannot fully express.
Kathie was a fighter. She faced life’s challenges with faith, courage, and determination, never losing sight of the people she loved. That strength was at the heart of the way she cared for her family. Her loved ones always knew she was in their corner. She was ready to listen, help, encourage, defend, and stand beside them whenever they needed her. Her love was steady and unmistakable, a source of comfort and confidence they could always count on.
She adored her three grandsons, Beau, Kale, and Carson, and treasured the time she spent with them. In her role as their maw-maw, she created memories that will remain part of them throughout their lives. The boys will carry her love, her laughter, and the special place she held in their family with them always.
Kathie’s warmth and spirit were impossible to miss. When we think of her, we picture her with a margarita in hand, laughing with the people she loved. She was joyful, devoted, and happiest when surrounded by family and friends. Those moments will become treasured memories, and the stories about her will continue to bring laughter and keep her presence close.
Kathie was preceded in death by her parents, Frank S. Dame and Regina (Jean Fogerty) Dame, and her sister, Juliette (Julie) Dame.
Kathie is survived by her husband, Thomas, her son, Zach (Caitlin), her daughter, Loren Barker (Chris), and her three grandsons, Beau, Kale, and Carson. Through them, and through all those whose lives she touched, Kathie’s love and legacy will continue.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Kathie’s life on November 22 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Old Monroe in Columbia, Illinois. Please bring a favorite story to share and raise a margarita in her honor. She would want the room filled with laughter, love, and the memories that made her so unforgettable.
