Michael Thomas Lundry, born April 28, 1950, was welcomed home into the loving arms of Jesus on Monday, December 4, 2023, at the young age of 73. He is survived by his dear wife, of nearly 50 years, Denise (Roddick) Lundry; his 3 loving children Erin (Nick) Chinnici, Lauren (Kevin) Knickman, and Stephen (Kristen) Lundry; his 5 adoring grandchildren Tommy, Tony, Ray, Izzy, and Paul; his 3 devoted siblings Ronald (Stella) Lundry, Betty (the late Robert) Lotspeich, and George (Diana Cain) Cook; and by many more who loved him and called him friend.
Mike lived a life of hard work, fierce loyalty and big love. Upon completion of high school he joined the US Navy and served 3 tours during the Vietnam War. He was a proud veteran. Following his service in the Navy, he returned to St. Louis, Missouri, where he met and fell in love with the love of his life, Denise. They married on September 28, 1974 and raised 3 successful children all while enjoying life in the company of the best friends-turned-family with whom God could have blessed him.
Mike loved his family immeasurably and to know him was to respect and admire him. He leaves behind a long legacy of dos, don’ts, recipes and rules that no one else could ever hope to keep straight. But the perfectionist in Mike drove everyone around him to reach high, never settle, and be the best version of themselves. We are all better because we knew and loved Mike, and we will miss him dearly until we see him again. Rest in peace dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.
It won’t be the same without Mike.
My Loving brother Mike will be Very much missed. Bless him Lord. May He Rest in Peace.
Also our late sisters Barbara (Joe McMahan) and Cindy (Jay Derington)
Mike was my supervisor in the late ’90s. On my first day of work he told me “All I ask is that you show up for work and do your job.” I knew right away that we would get along just fine. He was a good boss. He was a no-nonsense kind of guy, but I could still make him laugh. I only knew him for a few years, but he made an impression, and a good one at that. Rest easy, Mike.
Rest in peace Uncle Mike 🙏 I’ll never forget how special the holidays were with the family when I was a kid, some of the happiest memories of my life. May u be reunited with Grandma Mary Cook , Aunt Barb & my mom Cindy. Love to u all, ur truly missed. Sending love & prayers to the family Love u guys. XOXO
Had many long talks with Mike, as we both served on the USS Constellation, he had left just before I arrived. Mike was the encyclopedia of sports, knew baseball, hockey, football even golf. The Blarneystone boys will miss him.. Mike may your journey be met with “fair winds and filling seas”.
