In Loving Memory

Malle, James Peter

October 20, 1951 - October 30, 2024

Jim passed away peacefully on October 30, 2024 after a long struggle with cancer. Beloved husband of Karen E. Malle (nee Evanek).  Dear stepfather of Julie (the late Russ) Villarini, father of Joshua Malle and Jamie (Charles) Maucher.  Dear grandfather of Thaden Maucher.  Dear brother of Peter (Leslie) Malle, Stephen (Mary Ann) Malle, Mary Helen (Michael) Kamrath, Susan Malle and the late Thomas Malle.  Dear brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend.

Jim attended St. Gabriel the Archangel grade school and Christian Brothers College High School, where he played basketball and was in the marching band. His love of sports and music, especially Motown music, stayed with him throughout his life. He completed a B.A. in Psychology and earned an M.Ed. in Counseling at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

He began his career as an optician, went on to create and direct managed vision care plans, and finally became a self-employed hearing instruments specialist.

The pivotal moment in Jim’s life occurred when he became a born-again Christian at age 22. It completely reoriented the way he thought and lived his life. His devotion to Christ resulted in sharing his faith with others, the most notable of which was leading his future wife, Karen, to the Lord. They remained married for nearly 50 years.

His faith shaped all aspects of his life, particularly his role as a father and husband. Everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him as a family member, friend or co-worker was aware of his kindness, sense of humor and willingness to teach others. His faith supported him in the final year of his life as he faced death with a sense of peace and calm acceptance that if this was God’s time to take him home, he welcomed it.

SERVICES:  Memorial visitation at Kutis Affton Chapel (10151 Gravois Road Affton, Missouri 63123) on Friday, November 15, 10:00 a.m.  Interment Sunset Memorial Park.  Mr. Malle was a member of New Reformation Church.  In lieu of flowers, contributions to When The Saints (www.whenthesaints.com) appreciated.  Visitation Thursday 4 – 8 p.m.

  6. May G-d quickly rest this good man’s soul… I met Jim Malle in 1965 and started looking up to him in every sense of the word. I was proud that Jim even knew my name back then. My family is broken hearted that we lost him last week.

I will forever refer to him as gentle Jim. 😢💔🙏🏼
