Moran

In Loving Memory

Moran, Antoinette M. (nee Guignon)

June 4, 1941 - August 11, 2024

Toni Moran passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024, surrounded by her children after a short illness.

Beloved mother of John (Laura) Moran, Catherine (Keith) Weldon, Dennis Moran and Bridget Moran; loving grandmother of Miles, Sophie, Josie, Robert, Michael, Anne, Meghan and Tyler; adoring great-grandmother of Parker, Harper and Walker; dear sister of Patricia Robben, Paul (the late Ann) Guignon and the late James (surviving Terry) Guignon and Jacqueline (Bill) Maritz. Our dearest aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend to many.

She grew up in Webster Groves, Missouri where she attended Holy Redeemer grade school and later Villa Duchesne High School. She raised her four children in Webster Groves then moved her family to Jefferson City, Missouri where she worked in the Department of Agriculture as the first Director of the Missouri Wine and Grape Program, helping to promote and reinvigorate the State’s wine industry. While in that position, Augusta Missouri received the country’s first American Viticultural Area designation, ahead even of Napa Valley. She was very proud of her advocacy for Missouri wineries and was just as assertive in all other aspects of her life.

After surviving a near-fatal brain aneurysm in mid-life, she worked hard to recover and reinvented herself as a real estate broker and loved helping younger families find the right home. She enjoyed gardening and decorating and was an excellent cook. As a young mom, she brought her children on numerous camping trips in a VW bus throughout southern Missouri, often with other families’. She was fun and outgoing and had many friends from all walks of life. Toni became close to many of her caregivers in the last stage of her life. She was most proud of the family she raised and remained very close to her siblings.

Visitation at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church 17 Joy Ave. 63119 on Friday, August 16 from 9:30 am. until Funeral Mass time at 10:30 am. Interment at Calvary Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers:  to Backstoppers.org or your favorite charity.
