We are so saddened to hear of John’s passing. He was such a special person, one of the brightest stars on this planet… always ready to smile, laugh, help out…a person so full of life and feeling. We will miss him dearly. We wish the family our sincerest condolences. May his memory be a blessing.
So many Johnny Moo stories! I knew John sometimes as a teammate and other times from when we were in opposing dugouts. He went to Phoenix many times with the St. Louis team and he was always had a flair on and off the field. If John would have wanted to, he probably could have done stand-up comedy. He was sharp as a tack and had a knack for saying things in his own unique way that cracked everyone up. On top of that, he was a helluva good catcher and was famous for his drag bunts down the first base line. For a big man, he could motor down the line, and God help the fielder if he got in John’s way. I’ll miss him big-time and so will everyone whoever knew him.
I’m very sad to hear of John’s passing. He was such a positive influence and I am certainly better having know him. What a great guy! Deepest condolences.
I am so sorry for your loss. He was always so wonderful and asked about my daughter when he came in to the store. I’ll miss him.
RIP Moo. The Phoenix trips are legendary but you were more importantly, a good man. You are missed. I know we will one day”have a catch” on the otherside.
You’ll be missed Uncle Johnnie Moo! <3
I appreciate John’s kindness as a fun and caring uncle to my children as we visited St Louis often – Patrick, Sabrina and Mary Kate. Now as adults, they always smile when thinking of Uncle Johnny Moo. To John’s siblings, kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, my condolences on your loss. I wish you fond remembrance of your time together. Grief is often exhausting so wrap yourself in healthy, loving support. Take special care of yourselves and each other.
My heart felt prayers go out to all of Johnny family and friends. He was love by all he was one hell of a father, 1 hell of a friend, a amazing grandfather, and for some who didn’t mind getting some poop on their hands, he was 1 hell of a plumber. He will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
I hope you’re up there moving to the beat of your music that you loved so much.
My life is better for having been a friend and teammate of Johnny Moo. He caught many games I threw, but more importantly he made every game enjoyable and hilarious! Truly one of the best senses of humor of any human I know. The master of the “one-liner” and his hysterical timing could made an entire dugout roar!! Moo, Thanks for teaching all of us not to take life too seriously. Work hard, but play harder. You will be missed by so many for so long! Our trips to Arizona are legendary and your laugh will live with us forever. Thanks for being you and sharing your carefree spirit and remarkable wit with all of us!
Johnny Moo,
Unique, razor sharp wit, great ability to laugh at himself.Loved his children, adored his grand children. He would always give his friends a break if he did work for them, Best one liners ever,
Will be missed by many.
Way too early for you to go. Wishing well to all the Murray
Uncle John was a huge positive influence on me, growing up. No matter what, he would always save time for any of us, no matter how many kids, nephews and nieces. He even had special nicknames for us all. My whole life, whenever I visited St. Louis, Johnny Moo would be there with a smiling face.
May his positivity and memory live on forever in our hearts. Wish I could be there.
An absolute one of a kind person. I was very fortunate to have known and played baseball with Johnny in Arizona for more than 10 years. Never a dull moment on or off the field. I thank you very much for being my friend and bringing smiles and alot of laughs to all of us. RIP Johnny. Condolences from Minnesota.

So sad to hear this. What a wonderful, kickass, beautiful spirit! He had duende, a special quality or charm that makes a person irresistibly attractive. RIP brother 🙏
If you had the pleasure of running into him, you know was going to be a great day, night of laughter. Thank you Johnny Moo
John Murray, just the best! No matter if I saw him at our Schnucks Grocery Store or down the street, or here at my house, he was always friendly, funny, & brilliant! I pray for his family’s peace in knowing they had a gem of a man! He left us too soon & talked about alllll of you in the most loving ways.
~30 years ago when we moved to WG we got lucky when a friend recommended John to help with our 1908 house. What a delightful person! And how fun always to hear him talk of his family.
We send our sincere condolences.
We know your loss is enormous, and we know you felt/feel blessed to have known him so well.
