Earl John Oliveira

In Loving Memory

Oliveira, Earl John

Earl John Oliveira, 78, of Festus, Missouri, passed away on June 28th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 58 years, Elizabeth Jane Oliveira (née Dobson); his sister Shirley Farley; his children Tiffani Martin and Sean Oliveira (Chantal Hoffsten); his grandchildren Christopher Martin (Gabby), Leah Martin, and Elena Oliveira; great-grandchildren Ayva, Mason, Lilly, Adalyn, Madison, Ella, and Quinton; and nephews Robert and John.

Earl was a consummate and hard-working provider, who found great joy in his faith and loved nothing more than spending time with his family and loved ones. Raised by his mother Virginia Medeiros in Maui, and later by his aunt and uncle Helen and John Oliveira in Maryland, Earl developed a bond with the outdoors and traveling.  Those bonds only increased when he married Elizabeth and moved to California. His family fondly remembers hiking with him through the great redwoods, eating ice cream and sushi, and traveling up and down the coast looking for adventures and places to spend time together.  Earl loved the ocean, swimming, and never met a mountain he could not climb.

In his later life, Earl returned to Missouri to be surrounded by his family and dote on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He saw the good in everything and was an incredible teller of tall-tales, whose sense of humor and ability to give amazing hugs were unmatched.  A strong man who fought hard against illness in his later years with grace, faith, and the support of his loving wife, Earl will be missed by all who knew him.

Services: The family will hold a private memorial and ask that any tributes to his life of love, faith, and kindness be made in Earl’s name to the American Heart Association or the American Kidney Fund A Kutis South County Chapel Service.

  1. Earl became the father I never had back in 1984.There is an emptiness here on Earth for those of us who knew his loving heart. God has called him home now, may we all reunite with him when our times come. Until then, our memories of Earl are many and adored in our own loving hearts.

  2. Moments of inspiration! My Uncle Earl is an inspirational man. In our conversations he had many stories to tell. We would spend hours talking.
But he also listened and observed. I can to this day remember one of our first conversations. I had to be 11 at the time. He asked what I wanted to when I grow up. I loved animals and rescued many wild and domestic. And I told him I wanted to be a veterinarian. Later that day I had been drawing. I Believe it was a house and sceneries. He said he loved the drawings. And responded with “You should really think about being an architect!” From that day forward I worked for a contractor building and remodeling homes. Taking drafting classes, to having my own business designing and building and remodeling. When asked by customers what got me in to the business. I tell them the story of My uncle that in one moment Inspired me to be the man I am today!

As we go through life and our families go through the loss of loved ones. We morn and we weep for they have left this world. But with the memories they gave us. We will always hold them in name and spirit close and dear to our hearts. Earl the man has left us. His name and inspirational spirit will never be forgotten. May god bless our family during this time of loss for he has a beautiful person into his kingdom. amen 🙏
