Robert-Paul-Bio

In Loving Memory

Paul, Robert J.

Asleep in Jesus Sunday, December 25, 2022.

Beloved husband of Karen Paul (nee Nolting) for 53 years; loving father of Ryan (Kara) Paul and Nathan (Kristina) Paul; adoring grandfather of Lauren, Elise, Lillian, Jackson, Claire and Oliver; dear brother of the late Ronald (surviving Beverly) Paul and twin brother Richard (surviving Linda) Paul; dear brother-in-law of Steven (Joan) Nolting and Mark (Beverly) Nolting. Our dearest uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Bob and Karen were high school sweethearts, and together they built a life they loved. Bob was an accomplished electrical engineer who took pride in the quality of his work. Skilled with his hands and willing to learn, Bob would lead his sons in acquiring many home improvement skills over the years – skills which they used to turn houses into true homes. They would do this not only for their own families, but would willingly share these skills with others as well. He and Karen deeply valued longtime friendships, and often could be found catching up with beloved friends at favorite dinner spots or adventuring together on special trips. Bob was an avid fan of both the Cardinals and the Blues, even becoming an usher at Busch Stadium during retirement, but nothing made his eyes light up more than watching his grandkids play sports. Bob knew that he was loved and saved by Jesus Christ – he brought his children up in this faith, and his family takes special joy in the fact that on his very first day in heaven, Bob got to celebrate his Savior’s birthday with Him, face to face.

Visitation at Kutis Affton Chapel (10151 Gravois Rd. 63123) on Tuesday, January 3 from 4-8 pm, then at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection (9907 Sappington Rd. 63128) on Wednesday, January 4 from 10:00 am. until Funeral Service time at 11:00 am. Interment at Our Redeemer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Lutheran Church of the Resurrection or Lutheran High School South are appreciated.

  1. Karen and family, I am so sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. I know how hard it is to lose a spouse around the holidays. But be comforted that he is in the arms of our Savior. Take the time to grieve but also remember the good times you had together as a family.

  3. Steve and I fondly remember Bob. I did say this to Tim, Laura and Linda when we heard out about Bob’s passing–“Bob, met Jesus on His birthday. He is singing with the angels and all the company of heaven.” Prayers and blessings to the Paul family during your time of grief. We will see him again at the Resurrection. A promise from God for all Christians who have the faith.

  9. Bob gave our daughter, Kris, a second earthly dad when she married Nathan. Jeanette and I gained dear and true friends in Bob and Karen. These St. Louis area natives made these St. Louis transplants a part of their family. We will especially miss Bob’s gracious presence at family feasts.

  11. I am so sorry to hear of the loss of such a great man. Bob was my mentor in DC Power when I moved here in 1989 and he had so many sayings that always cracked us all up. I had tried many times to find his contact information after his retirement without success. He told me stories of some catoring business, talked frequently of his family and was always a great friend of mine. It’s saddens me deeply to hear of him this way versus meeting him in person.

  21. We were so sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. I mainly knew him from working at AT&T where he was considered a giant in his technical field, not only in stature but in his knowledge and caring approach. Everyone that knew Bob sincerely appreciated him as a wonderful human being that was always there to help in any way he could both in and out of the office. Although I wasn’t his supervisor, I had the privilege and honor to do his final retirement processing locally as we skipped down the hall one last time together for his last time to exit the building. Prayers to his family and many friends during this time.

  23. I am so sorry to hear of the loss of such a great man. Bob was a mentor in DC Power for me and several others. He was always available to help when needed. I just spoke to him several months ago when I had asked his opinion on an old engine room setup. A wealth of knowledge and freely shared it when asked.

  27. Our thoughts and prayers to Karen and the family. We met Bob as a Cardinals usher, although we all retired from AT&T. Bob was an incredibly nice guy and so easy to get to know. He will be missed greatly until we all meet again.
