Probst

In Loving Memory

Probst, JoAnne L. (nee Lippert)

September 11, 1936 - April 28, 2026

Baptized into the Hope of Christ’s Resurrection Tuesday, April 28, 2026.

Daughter of George and Christene Lippert.   Beloved wife of the late Paul Francis Probst; loving mother of Peggy Probst and Christene (Justin) Keenoy; proud Maw Maw of Mary Kate (Tom) Blood; dear sister of the late Wilmer (Marie), Wilma, George, Elmer and Mary Lippert; dear sister-in-law of the late Robert Probst and Kathy Probst. Our dearest aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend to many.

Mom was active in the Holy Redeemer Catholic Family Movement, Catholic Women’s League, Bible Study and Altar Care.  Through the CFM group she made life long friendships with the Paul Vogt family, Paul Appelbaum family, Bill Reis family, and the Bob Kilgore family.  Mom was the organizer of the four families getting together at Blackburn Park for all day picnics on Memorial Day and Labor Day for many years.  Many of us in these families have commented on how much these picnics are fond childhood memories.  Mom was our Holy Redeemer room mother, Brownie Leader Girl Scout leader, and a Cadet Leader.  She coached Holy Redeemer basketball and softball.  Mom was an amazing cook and loved to host gatherings for family and friends.  All were welcome to stop by the Probst house for a visit.  She especially loved the Christmas holiday and decorated her homes beautifully  She served for many years as an Administrative Assistant at various companies/nonprofits, including Nerinx Hall High School.  Mom remained in contact of with many of Peg and Chris’s classmates long after she left Nerinx Hall.  Her last and favorite job was the SLU basketball administrative assistant for 14 years. She was a welcoming presence for these young men as they started their time at SLU. JoAnne developed lasting friendships with many of the players, attending their weddings and family events. She loved her “boys.” Her infamous chocolate chip cookies were enjoyed by countless Billiken teams to celebrate their victories.  Mom taught us the value of maintaining friendships, no matter how far away people were. Among these life long friendships were with the Jerry Langkamp family in Cassville, WI.  Over the years, Peg and Chris tried to figure out how to move WI closer to MO.  She loved the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Missouri Tigers, in that order, until SLU came along.  She passed along her sense of style and cooking skills to her granddaughter Mary Kate. She leaves a legacy of love and unconditional support. She was a special person who touched many lives.  When you see the color pink, smile and honor mom!
