William Ruess

In Loving Memory

Ruess, William “Bill”

August 30, 1947 - March 23, 2025

William “Bill” Ruess, a man whose thoughtful and friendly nature touched the lives of many.
Born on August 30, 1947, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Bill was a beacon of love and
friendship to all. It is with a heavy heart that we announce his passing on March 23, 2025, in St.
Louis.
Bill’s journey through life was marked by his loving character and dedication to his family. He
leaves behind a legacy through his daughters, Lori E (Steven P Martin) Ruess of Sappington and
Jill C Ruess of Sappington, and his adored grandchildren: Alexis R Martin and Cruz D Martin; a
niece: Danielle (Al Saltz) Ruess-Saltz of Philadelphia; and great-nephew Jacob Xander. His
family was the cornerstone of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He is the
son of the late Robert J and Catherine R (Tonelli) Ruess.
His dedication to his country was evident through his ten years of honorable service in the
United States Navy, a period that instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he
carried throughout his career as a Union Laborer with Local 110.
He was a familiar face to many and was always ready to lend a helping hand. His warm smile
and genuine interest in others made him a beloved member of any group he was part of.
Bill’s interests were as multifaceted as his personality. He found joy in the simple pleasures of
life, such as watching his grandson Cruz play hockey. He was a fixture at the rink, his eyes
gleaming with pride at every game.
Those who knew Bill would describe him as thoughtful, friendly, and loving. He approached life
with a gentle kindness that made everyone around him feel valued and respected. His ability to
listen and offer wise counsel made him a trusted friend and confidant to many.
Bill Ruess’s life was a testament to the power of love, friendship, and family. His memory will
continue to inspire those who knew him to live with purpose and compassion and laughter. As
we say goodbye to Bill, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey filled with meaningful
connections and heartfelt moments.
We have lost a cherished soul, but the impact of Bill’s love and friendship will remain. William
“Bill” Ruess will be deeply missed, but the warmth of his legacy will continue to light the way
for all who walk the path he once did. Rest in peace, dear friend.

Services; Visitation at Kutis Affton Chapel 10151 Gravois, Monday March 31, 12 Noon to 1PM; then to JB National Cemetery for 1:30 PM services.
