In Loving Memory

Marchbanks, Ruth Ann

Ruth Ann Marchbanks was born November 28th, 1937 in the City of St. Louis.  Preceded in death by her father Rev. Howard C. Roy Sr, Mother, Mary Roy, grandson Barry Light.  Survived by Husband, Rev. Virgil Marchbanks of Arnold MO, son Donald Marchbanks, spouse Carla Marchbanks, of Joplin, MO, Daughter Linda Radford, spouse Gary Radford of Douglasville, GA, son Thomas Marchbanks of Arnold, MO; 14 Grandchildren, 25 great Grandchildren; large host of family & friends.  Ruth Ann was raised in St.Louis, MO had six siblings. Mary Lou Hern, Arlene Howell, Carolyn Joyce Cessna, Howard Roy Jr, Gloria Jean Gregory & Jack Roy.  She graduated June 1955 from McKinley High School St. Louis, MO.  Ruth Ann was employed for a several yrs at Brown Shoe Company in St. Louis.  She found the love of her life in Virgil Marchbanks, they were married in St. Louis June 2nd, 1956

Together they started pastorship at United Pentecostal Church of Arnold on February 4th 1962, Virgil is still the pastor. The church was her life, teaching, secretary, piano player, organ player & even the accordion!!  The two traveled around the world, many times She spoke of the different countries they had visited. Japan, Hong Kong, China, Belgium, Israel, Iran, Canada & many states in the Union. What ever task She was asked to do or help with she put her whole heart into the work.  Arnold Christian Day Care was one of her largest endeavors.

The love of her life, Virgil she stood by him regardless of the circumstances. The #1 home maker you could ask for, breakfast before work & dinner every evening. All home cooked meals. Along with my Dad she took on three children all at the same time. What a handful but again she was up for the task!! Always making sure we were clothed, fed & taught us right from wrong.

I remember one of her favorite sayings, ” I will pray you will do the right thing”  Mom, we are here doing what you taught us doing the right thing!!

  1. There are never the right words when we loose someone we love. But we can be assured of her heavenly reward on high. She left a legacy to attest of her love for God. The words we all want to hear, “well done my good and faithful servant.” Welcome Home.

  8. I am so very happy to celebrate her life. I can’t say enough about the impact she made. I always was happy to call her my aunt. My cousins are all in my prayers as well as her husband, my uncle Rev. Virgil Marchbanks. Never will know a more devoted couple pastoring a church together.
