In Loving Memory

Oehler, Larry Dale

Larry Dale Oehler, 66, of St. Louis, Missouri, died at his home on June 25, 2025.

He was born in Bonne Terre, Missouri, on November 17, 1958, to Charles and Othe Oehler. Larry earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Management at Southwest Missouri State University and went on to have a successful 40-year career at AT&T until his retirement in November 2021. Larry met his wife, Nancy, while taking a summer college math class in 1977. The two were married on August 22, 1981, in Farmington, Missouri, and moved to St. Louis to start their careers and a family.

Larry was a respected and talented computer programmer and a great problem-solver. He enjoyed and valued his work with computers. Larry was also a whiz at games and puzzles. He had a routine of playing late night games with Nancy and the grandchildren. The scores were documented in a little yellow book so he could prove that he was always a winner. He loved being ‘Papa’ to his grandchildren. Larry had a passion for home renovation projects. Larry dedicated much of his spare time rehabbing houses. He took pride in all that he did.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Othe. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his daughter, Michelle (Brendan) Wright of Wentzville, Missouri; his son, Kevin (Christina) Oehler of Fishers, Indiana; his daughter, Julie (Darik) Kelly of Bonner Springs, Kansas; four grandchildren: Olivia, Connor, Mason, and Henry; and brothers Charles (Sue) Oehler of St. Charles, Missouri and Steve Oehler of Green River, Wyoming.

Services will be held on Monday, June 30, at Kutis Funeral Home, 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd Mehlville, MO 63129. Public visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place immediately afterward at Park Lawn Cemetery located at 1800 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis, MO 63125. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity.  Habitat for Humanity Donations

  4. As a member of the AT&T family, I worked with Larry from time to time when he would come up to Milwaukee. A first-class technician with substantial knowledge and a great guy as well. I wish you fair winds and following seas, my friend.

  6. Dear Nancy, Michele, Kevin and Julie::
I got introduced to Larry and Nancy through Kevin when he met Christina and then joined by the rest of the family.
I cherish the memories of the fun times we have had together in Indianapolis and Lake James plus some bonus vacations in Destin and Clearwater, FL. and visits in St. Louis.
I remember Larry being in charge of the coolers at the shower and wedding, he was a master at it! I also have good memories of Larry and I going grocery shopping on vacations!!!
We will miss all these “special” times but we live with the memories which are many!
We remember Larry for his talents and always ready to lend a helping hand whenever needed.
My thoughts, prayers and blessings for all of you!
    Sincerely,
    Christina’s Grandmother,
    Lois Steere

  7. My Larry Oehler story showcases what kind of guy he was. Several years ago my husband John was at work and just not feeling well, but was trying to be a tough guy. Larry knew John had had some health issues before, and knew I was worried, so Larry went over to John’s desk and said either go to the hospital or I’ll drag you there myself. So John went, and found out he had a pulmonary embolism lodged in his heart. He would likely have died if he hadn’t gone in. So Larry saved my husband’s life that day. But that’s just how Larry was, he did what needed to be done, and didn’t hesitate.

  8. Dear Precious Nancy, I cannot thank you and Larry enough for coming to see us both at my in-laws house in Florissant (home made ice cream) and here in Kokomo. I am SO thankful for those more recent connections but oh my, the wonderful older memories, too. You and Larry studying together in our Rolla room:) I knew. Larry from 4H and love it that you two met in Dad’s summer MAC program. SIXTY SIX is way too young to leave this Earth. I know how much he loved you and your precious children and grandchildren. That is the hardest part, I think, the grandchildren not getting to grow up with him around. You two encouraged David and I more than you will ever know- I love it that I got to be in your wedding :)) love you tons, thanks for letting us know of your loss. God bless and comfort you as only He can. Love, Ann
