In Loving Memory

Steimel, Shannon Tate

February 13, 1971 - December 6, 2025

The world lost a beautiful soul on Saturday, December 6, 2025. Shannon Tate Steimel, loving wife of Jon Steimel for 25 years, died suddenly at the age of 54. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Jean LaMonte Tate, and her sister, Shelley Tate.

Shannon was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on February 13, 1971. She grew up in Webster Groves, where she forged many lifelong friendships that would later become a chosen family. She was an avid reader, artist, music lover, and enjoyed curling up on the couch watching “her shows” with her adored pups.

Shannon was, quite simply, the glue that held everyone and everything together. She had an extraordinary gift for making people feel important and special, a characteristic evident in the way she joyfully hosted holidays and parties. Her home was a gathering place, and her welcoming spirit ensured no one ever felt like a stranger. The apple of her parents’ eye and a beloved sister, Shannon’s primary passion was her family and friends.

She was the adored aunt of Joe, Vanessa, Scott (Nicole), Louisa (Syed), Connor, Sophia, Lucy, and Aiden, who will deeply miss her playful spirit and warmth. She was the adopted Aunt Shanny to countless others.

Always the caretaker, Shannon helped many families successfully raise their children in her role as a nanny. She was patient, firm yet loving, a thoughtful role model, instilled manners and respect, and taught important life lessons. She enriched their lives immeasurably, fostering self-confidence and kindness.

Shannon is survived by her soulmate, Jon Steimel; and her siblings, Shawn Tate, William “Biff” Tate, and sister-in-law, Dianna Critzas-Tate. She is also survived by her cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.

A visitation to honor Shannon’s life will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL, 10151 Gravois Road, 63123. We invite anyone who would like to share stories to do so from 3-4.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to MoPoodle Rescue in Shannon’s memory.

Condolences
