In Loving Memory

Hussey, Nellie M. “Bubbles”

March 31, 1925 - March 13, 2026

Hussey, Nellie M. “Bubbles” (nee Demitroff) Friday March 13, 2026. Beloved wife of the late Arthur G. Hussey. Dear mother of Dane (Linda) Hussey of Pensacola, Fl., Beth (Jeffrey) Grubb of Arnold, Mo. and the late Debra Atchison. Dear grandmother of Cara Hussey, Brian Hussey, Andrea (Chris) Markham, Stuart Dixon, Tara (Mark Pasciuto) Dixon, Devin Dixon, Jason (Laura) Grubb, Laurie Grubb (Jarrod Beaman) and Jonathan Grubb (Ashley Barrale). Dear great grandmother of Alexis, Cody, Jack, Evan, Hope, Gabe, Malia, Abel, Ayden and Asher. Dear great great grandmother of Ember. Dear sister of the late Christopher George and James Demitroff. Our dear aunt, great aunt and friend.

Nellie was a wonderful Mom and homemaker who loved to cook and bake.  She would often surprise you with a new recipe she wanted to try.  She will forever be remembered for her awesome mashed potatoes and the love she poured into everything she made. Her great grandkids absolutely loved her banana bread.

Nellie had a bright and bubbly personality, which is why her husband called her “Bubbles”. She had a beautiful smile and a contagious laugh to light up her big, beautiful, blue eyes!  She had an intense love of family and found such joy in holding and soothing a baby.

She loved family vacations where she could spend time with the “kids”.  She was happiest when with the family, especially the great grandkids. Nellie was a wonderful, loving woman who was strong to a fault.   She was Independent and always pushing herself and never giving up ….until the end.

I can’t put into words what she meant to all of us but she was wonderful and will forever be missed! We are so, sad without her as she was our everything and was a huge part of our lives!  We are left with an emptiness that can’t be filled. So blessings and love to her and the family she left behind. Time for Granny to rest……Our matriarch has gone home……

Many thanks to Cedarhurst Senior Living Community, Arnold for their loving care of Nellie. A special thank you to Dover Hospice and Mom’s nurse, Emina. Emina provided TLC and support to Nellie and our family.  Emina’s love and attentiveness for her patient showed in everything she did!

Services: Funeral at Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd., on Wednesday, March 18, 9:00am. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital appreciated. Visitation Tuesday, 6:00 to 8:00pm.

Condolences

  1. Beth, Jeff and Family.
So very sorry to hear of Nell’s passing. Sincerest condolences to you and your family. How and where do I begin to describe Nell? Nell: always a smile, caring, loving, kindest, sweetest, a pleasure to visit with her (always), never complained, the best neighbor, and fun loving. She lived a good long life.
She and Art are together now. She will be missed.
    Rest in Peace Nell.
