Gene Schwartz, beloved husband of Lorraine (Bourisaw Whiteley) Schwartz, father of Mark (Becky), Stephen (Sara), Eric and Brad (Jane), stepfather of Tracy (Tim) Rebholz and Jeremy (Courtney) Whiteley, and loving grandfather (Gpa) of Emma, Ethan, Evan and Elliott Rebholz; Dekin Whiteley; Aubrey, Landon, Wyatt, Arya, Kinsley, Elana, Leah (late), Louisa, Edyn and Oliver Schwartz. Dear son-in-law of Rose Mary Bourisaw (late Glenn), dear brother-in-law of Dave (Laurie) Bourisaw and Robert (late) Bourisaw. Dear uncle to Timothy (late) Bourisaw, Matthew Bourisaw (Tina Gaspar), Kimberly (Geoff) Mueller; dear cousin to Rick (Sandy) Frazier and great-uncle to Louis and Abbi Bourisaw, Kaitlyn and Christopher Mueller.
Gene battled Lewy Body Dementia for over six years with grace and dignity. His spirits were always lifted when family showed their kindness and love with visits and phone calls or texts. Those that loved him were always there for him. Gene’s strong Christian faith never wavered during his battle.
Gene had a kind soul that touched those that he knew. His love for Lorraine was never-ending. Gene was so happy to have Lorraine’s family become his own…and they never stopped showing him that he was a part of their family. His grandchildren were the joy of his life and he loved to spend time with them. The hardest part of Gene’s illness was knowing that he would not be here on earth to watch them grow up, though we know that Gene will be watching over them from heaven.
