After attending OCS, Les proudly entered the US Navy where he served aboard the USS Oglethorpe, rising to Boat Group Commander.

Later, Les joined Honeywell Corporation before embarking on a career selling chartered travel programs around the world. Ultimately, Les settled down in a real estate career, managing offices for Gordon Gundaker, whom he greatly admired.
