Bob was born in St. Louis, MO to Oran and Armenta Ebert on February 3, 1931. Bob had many different jobs while in grade school and high school. At the age of 12, he sold soda at the Cardinals ballgames ( 12 bottles to a bucket!), he set pins at Steinbrothers Bowling Alley, worked for a grocery store and delivered groceries on his bike and worked for a tailor where he delivered suits to businessmen at their offices.
He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1949 where he played basketball. He had a great hook shot! He continued playing basketball when he joined the Navy at the age of 20. The team traveled to different countries to compete. He served our country for four years during the Korean War on aircraft carriers and a submarine.
Bob married Joann (Milligan) Ebert on June 16, 1956, in St. Louis, MO. They were married for 65 years and 9 months.
Bob worked as a Sales Manager for John Hancock Life Insurance for 35 years. He was involved with St. Paul’s Catholic Church as an usher, reader, extraordinary minister and on many committees. He also was involved in his community on the Board of Adjustments for the City of Fenton for several years and he volunteered as an Ombudsman for St. Louis County. After his retirement from John Hancock, he worked at Grant’s Farm for twelve years…A job he loved working with his brother, Bill.
Bob was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was a member of The Knot- Hole Gang and has a brick at Busch Stadium.
Bob never knew a stranger. His great smile, brilliant blue eyes and compassionate disposition drew people to him and he to them. He never said an unkind word to or about anyone. And he would do anything for everyone. He was an angel on earth!!!
Bob is preceded in death by his parents Oran and Armenta, Infant Daughter Mary Theresa, Sister-in-law Aggie, and his Grandson Robert.
Bob is survived by his wife Joann, his children, Anthony Ebert, Anne (Ebert) Wall, Michael (Jolene) Ebert and Julie (Ebert) Gerkowski, his siblings Mary Donnley (Chuck), Charlie Ebert, Bill Ebert (Dolores) and Teresa Grawer (Richard), and grandchildren Stefan Ebert (Lydia), Trisha Mavra (Jason), Emily Wall, Zachary Wall, Amanda Clark (Ryan), Hannah Gerkowski, Meghan Kline-Tuls (Daniel), Alex Ebert, and Riley Ebert, and great grandchild, Henry Kline-Tuls.

I am so sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. I got to know Bob many years ago when we were involved in the Deanery Council. What a fine man! Working with him was a joy. May he rest in peace.
